Wondering, did Rivera also not play his starters much. I do not recall but I sure as heck recall that one year where our OL was decimated, mostly with soft tissue injuries for the whole season

I didn’t remember that, I would have thought his first camp with so many new players wouldn’t be very light. However, they were definitely rusty in that first game against TB (which I know you of all people know since you went!).
This season, given what you posted? Actually makes me pretty annoyed. I didn’t remember all of the quoted studies. That’s his job.
Don't recall. I think with Quinn it might have been multiple factors as to red flags for the season.
A. Light camp -- reporters saying an extreme version of light camp -- super light
B. You didn't have Terry in camp or Noah and the backups sucked in camp yet this FO seemed to give that a big shrug
C. Because the offense in camp had no playmakers, the defense looked much better than they actually were
D. Jayden didn't have his top WRs and those he did have in camp were blanketed -- and this staff had apparently zero concerns about Jayden building chemistry with the receivers they had in preseason games.
E. According to NE reporters Washington got their asses kicked in the joint practice. And lol the UDFA corners who could shut down Chris Moore and company in practice, struggled against the NE receivers
F. They got their asses kicked in the preseason games, too.
When Quinn talks about learning hundreds of lessons from last year, I assume something in that soup involves this. And when I talk about arrogance from Peters and Quinn, I don't mean it so much as dudes but IMO their actions at times came off like we are the f'ing Washington Commanders the darlings of the NFL -- we are on prime time all season for a reason.
Just trust us -- no matter how it might look. Jayden is so good, he doesn't need reps in preseason games. We got no fear about our backup WRs. We don't give a crap about how we look in joint practices. We aren't going 100% hard. We don't need to. You might not understand this. But we do. When the playoff hunt late in the season happens, we will be the rested and ready team.
And for those who want to push back, yes I don't know for sure, but that's how it felt to me and I said so in real time back then -- this isn't hindsight from me.

From what I've heard it was on the lighter side but nothing like last summer.
On a good note, the roster is experiencing a bit of a youth movement. That should lead to less excuses of letting the older vets just walk through camp
I am hoping the youth movement continues and the don't bring back players like Ertz and Wagner later.
DQ always talked about reevaluating hs previous years and trying to make corrections where he would see faults, lets hope he has a very open mind and really takes everything in. (same applies for AP)
Having so many old veterans underpinning the roster contributed to the soft training camp being an issue as well. So many veteran rest days, tough to get in a rhythm, gel, and build up that toughness for week 1. Having a couple of those guys as leaders is fine. But having really important starters in nearly every position group consistently missing lots of practice is just hard to build around.
Some of us fooled ourselves into seeing a small silver lining with this: oh the young developmental backups will get way more camp snaps than usual this way! Win/win, right? But that only helps if the developmental depth is…good. Most of it wasn’t.

Things always been consistent on:
1. You need to play staters in preseason games. If you have 4, you play them in the first 2, and one of them they play preferably close to a half.
2. Starting the season slow is generally on you. If it takes a month to look professional, you prepared wrong.
3. In football, you get so few opportunities to actually play the game. Most teams go from early January to September without a real game. That sets in for game day situations. The coaches need the preseason games as much as players do, just to get the mechanics of calling plays and remembering how to game manage.
There is no substitution for game reps. Don’t waste the opportunities.
