The 2026 Free Agency Thread

Instead of starting a new thread I thought we could just discuss any June 1st cuts here. Is there anybody that we anticipate cutting on our team? Is there anybody that might fall into our lap from another team?

Thoughts?
 
It makes sense, but this board needs more threads instead of stuffing every thought we have into two or three ongoing ones. That way, maybe we prevent talking about Diggs and Aiyuk in the OTA thread or Diggs and AIyuk in the Jayden thread or Diggs and Aiyuk in the Kiem/media discussion thread :)

Hmm... there could be a pattern to the subject bleed, but I can't put my finger on it.
 
Well the Rams keeping trading for fun. Won’t be long until the Eagles do the same.

Quite like that aggressive approach.
 
They aren’t screwing around. SB this year in their home stadium too, I think?

Garrett for Verse, 2027 1, 2028 2, 2029 3

Browns weren’t gonna do much better, get a 2027 1 (which nobody was moving) to help them move up for a QB if they need it. Young edge rusher back, plus future picks. Not like Garrett was letting himself be traded to a non-contender and at his age, cap number, projected future salary…they did as well as they could have imo

Like it for the Rams as well. Go for it

I'd like to get to the point that one of our own....not named Daniels, or Styles... would garner a 1st round pick. Dont know if we would even get a 1st for TM, maybe late 1st? Tunsil?
 
I feel like that's an overpay. AJ has been a loudmouth and I don't think he was that good last year. A fair trade value given recent offseasons for a good receiver is probably a third.

Doesn’t sound like things are going well with Naber’s ACL/MCL recovery after his recent clean-up procedure, and now they’re bringing in multiple veteran bodies to get them through camp and the beginning of the season. Probably starting the season on PUP

It is true, although it having any real meaning is in doubt of course. Kind of feels like Aiyuk just being a total imp.

I personally hope that if it’s not gonna happen soon (aka if Aiyuk isn’t gonna show up around their facility soon to force the continuance of his football career), then I hope that things so obviously aren’t gonna work out in our favor that we just move on and reconsider (consider for the first time?) Diggs. If we’re not gonna end up with Aiyuk, who for some reason has now become our only realistic option, then it would be way better if that became super apparent to AP sooner than later. If he even wants to pivot in the first place (I sort of doubt that he does, despite the fact that Diggs is an obvious fit for the extra dollars).
 
I am happy we did not give up that much for AJ Brown. I have questions about his long term ability staying sharp. He's an even bulkier Anquan Boldin (who did age like fine wine though), but Boldin never quite had the nagging injuries (I think) that AJ Brown does. Muscled up WR's sometimes don't last. So opportunity cost of what that 2028 first rounder could turn into. In 3 years when that 2028 first rounder would be in his rookie season, AJ Brown would be 31 and Terry McLaurin would be 33. Assuming both were extended and still on the team, that's a duo that could potential just fall off a cliff fast.

What if we paid for a WR that was on the last bit of his rookie contract, and the team he is on is hesitant to hand out that huge extension. (I'm thinking of the original Eagles-Titans AJ Brown trade)

WR1 targets:
  • Chris Olave, playing on 5th year of his rookie deal. (Concussion issues)
  • Drake London, also 5th year of rookie deal (Falcons might be a little shy of his nagging injuries)
  • Puka Nacua (...yeah this isn't happening even if he is a headache)
WR2 targets:
  • Jordan Addison, 5th year of rookie deal, he's good, but also a bit of a headache, would be hard to pay him while having Justin Jefferson under contract.
  • Michael Wilson, last year of his rookie contract. Had a breakout season.
  • Marvin Harrison Jr, 2 years left but has not lived up to expectations
WR 3 targets:
  • Kayshon Boutte, last year of rookie contract, there's a rumor he was looking for an early extension prior to Patriots getting AJ Brown. They just signed Doubs. So Boutte is kind of the odd man out now, and he held out of voluntary workouts (doesn't mean much, but still)
  • Xavier Worthy, 2 years left, couldn't elevate further despite Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid...and Andy Reid does have a weird habit of personnel moves that nobody sees coming.
 
Deepest but not the best. Do I wish Jayden had name that GM from the 2024 class supporting him with weapons? Yes, by a mile over Peters. Sorry, I know that pisses people off but that's a national narrative for a reason because its obvious.

But having said that...

I love this for Washington. Yeah AJ Brown is a pain in the ass. But when he's on his game he's one of the top WRs in the league. To me it makes this division more competitve. So for Jayden this is good. So while it might widen the gap between Jaayden and Maye, to me that's a flase narrative swap the roster of those two teams and lol say see what Maye would do with this supporting cast?
