The 2026 Free Agency Thread

Facilities have improved a TON, between weight room, locker room, recovery equipment, cafeteria, player recreational clubhouse, practice fields, etc. They probably won’t stay in Ashburn forever but they’ve dumped millions into that facility and in the latest NFLPA survey the players did actually rate it all well.

You’re not wrong about the location, but any area that has richy-rich residential options (with good schools) outside a major national city hub has its appeal. Only a few teams really have that combination. It doesn’t appeal to everyone but it has its appeal.
the new stadium will increase our odds with free agents substantially i think

Ashburn used to be out in the sticks, even before the data center boom

So many one year deals…
Yeah a lot of roster turnover again next year.
I am no certain I'd have wanted any of those 4 for more than a one year commitment. I am still shocked Paul is back.
I do wish they had signed guys like Rachaad White and Omenihu to a second year. They are both great fits

I want you to be right, but if this happens, it's going to be a secondary or tertiary effect IMO.

I think fan interest will likely increase and that could translate to a renewed reputation / revenue for the team. That could eventually lead to increased interest among FAs.

I think the players care most about $$$, winning, coaches, team reputation, location for their family, etc.

edit: As Conn talked about, I think the team facilities in Ashburn are massively improved (and more important to players than the stadium).

$$$ is 1st second and third concern for any player I would think. It would be for me if I was in their shoes. Id live in a nice apt in bumfuk russia for a few years if i never had to worry about paying bills again

Colleges have better stuff than we do for players. new stadium will fix that.

Go Rams

I hope the rumored trade negotiations between the Panthers and 49ers end up in a deal for Brandon Aiyuk so we can cancel his name out and move on in signing a veteran wideout and then looking to find a WR in the draft.

If this team plays its cards right we could move out of #7 down to #12 or #13 and pick up enough other picks so that we can take EDGE, WR and RB in the top 100.

Then we could use the post-draft free agent period to obtain a veteran linebacker for depth and perhaps another safety as well among others.

We’d be breaking a miserable long losing streak on trade backs. It would be our first trade back win in 25 years.

Aside from Jennings who is the veteran wideout you want them to sign?

No offense, but I hate both of these ideas. Buying low on a 1300 yard receiver that is 2 years out from an ACL seems smart.

In a draft where multiple scouts have said there are only 11 players that have actual 1st round grades, trading back to 12 or 13? No thank you. The only time in 40 something years of being a fan, that I can remember winning a trade, was the Ricky Williams trade. In 40 years. Stick and pick. I’d rather go up to 4 for Live than go back to 12 or 13.

Exactly.

Its why we always end up with Ryan Kerrigan instead of jj watt, jahan Dotson instead of Chris olave, Mike sanristil instead of Cooper dejean.

Enough already, if a team wants to trade up, figure out who it is they want and take that guy.

Jay Schroeder for Jim Lachey. We got a couple of draft picks in the deal as well,

That was robbery on our part!

You’re assuming all of the teams picking ahead of us would take those so called 11 players. I mean, I don’t really believe that 11 players narrative anyway. AP selected Trey Amos with pick #61 and basically said we had a first round grade on him.

Would quite like a CB before day 3.

Back on Free Agency, thought I read Aiyuk had some form of no trade clause?

It’s not an actual no trade clause but since any team who traded for him would likely want to rework his contract then Aiyuk would have a say in whether he would accept that or not

Kerrigan by a mile was the gem of the trade downs albiet they lost that trade. Yep why we end up with Trent Murphy instead of D.Lawrence. Crowder instead of Tyler Lockett.
