Why couldn't we be good this random year?

I don't even really hate Macdonald. I'm just mad he turned the Commies down last year, even if it wasn't insulting like Johnson handled it.

1987 was one of those years so we at least got 1.

Congrats to Macdonald and the Seahawks. Two years in, and he's led them to the SB. He recognized a short-coming in the O after the 2024 season and didn't hesitate to fire Grubb. Made an excellent decision with Kubika and here we are. Good coaching, good leadership, good vision, decisive decision-making.

I mean, it's going to be either Sam Darnold or Drake May as SB mvp, lol

Sam Darnold is making his best Eli Manning impression. He does nothing but win playoff games, and maybe even a SB.

Eli Manning was good when the Giants made the playoffs and was otherwise mediocre. These past 2 seasons, Darnold has been fantastic or simply just good in the regular season. Last season, he flopped badly in his one playoff game with 9 sacks. He undeniably looks better this season in the playoffs, but he's not out of the woods yet. Which scares me. I desperately want the Patriots to lose.

This is going to be labled as one of those off seasons.

We've seen a few of those.

Brad Johnson, Trent Dilfer, Joe Flacco, Nick Foles, each have won SBs. This going to be one of those years.

Sam Darnold and Drake Maya are the SB QBs. Unbelievable!

And Maye is doing his best Trent Dilfer imprsssion. (I think still think Maye is going to be elite, not hating)
They told us all along the script haha

This is ridiculous. Trent Dilfer threw for 13 TDs and 11 INTs with a 59% completion rate during his SB year. Maye threw for 31 TDs and 8 INTs with a 72% completion rate and had the #1 QBR in the NFL in his and is an All-Pro in his 2nd year. Dude is Josh Allen lite right now. He's already looking elite.

I know you're a dye-in-the-wool ride or die JD guy, but at least pretend to be a semi-serious person.

oh hey it’s my favorite person from extremeskins!

How about you stop assuming? I’m talking about Maye’s playoff run. And yes it’s very Trent Dilfer esque so far.

And Josh Allen lite? Get real lol yeah he’s going to be a good one but he’s no where near Josh Allen’s level currently. The Maye defending on this message board is really quite odd. Yeah he’s going to be a star but no criticism is allowed apparently. This is a skins board let me remind you.

So you're just going to pivot and say you were only talking about the playoffs. I'm curious if you're even capable of admitting that Maye has legitimately been a stud this season without either 1) finding some way to denigrate him by hedging or with a backhanded compliment or 2) finding a way to insert JD in there as being better in some area. Again, he's an All-Pro in his second season - they don't give that to Trent Dilfers, and it's not a popularity contest like the Pro Bowl.

And yeah, Josh Allen lite. You're probably one of the only people who thinks that idea is laughable. Maye is also far beyond where Allen was in his second season, and comparable to where Allen was in his third season when he broke out. On ES you were a 100% pure JD homer and always basically laughed at the idea of taking Maye. Now that Maye is an All-Pro and JD is injured after a mediocre start to the season, you're grasping at anything to downplay Maye's performance.

I still believe that JD can get back to his trajectory of his rookie season, and I still think he's a stud, but to deny that Maye is a stud now is just ignoring what's right in front of your face.

And yes, this is a Skins board, but it's the part of the board that's about other teams. Note that I didn't put something like this in the JD thread, because it wouldn't belong there.

The games I have seen with Drake Maye have not reminded me of Josh Allen at all. Allen has a cannon arm and runs with the strength of a fullback. Maye's scrambling reminds me more of Taylor Heinicke, which is not a criticism compared to the average QB. It just means I don't see it in any way comparable to Allen.

Maye's arm seems average. His decision-making is what I expect to improve. Brock Purdy seems to have plateaued. I think Maye can exceed that and be a rich man's Brock Purdy.

I tend to think it’s a lingering carry-over from the initial drafting of JD5. Unless you were in lockstep that JD5 was going to be better than Maye and that Maye was essentially dog meat (paraphrasing) you were stoooooopid and/or a hater (not paraphrasing). Any deviation from all-in for JD5 was met with derision. Including a relatively benign: “I wanted Maye but will be rooting for JD5”

I was there……

Is this not the PLAYOFFS thread? That’s what I’m equating Maye’s performance to Trent Dilfer. Do you always get offended so easily and take everything so personal? It’s exhausting. I didn’t bring up anything about Jayden and even say I think Maye is going to be elite. But since you mention it…going back to ES, everything I said about Jayden was right and it made you a few other Maye nut huggers look like clowns. It’s too bad that website got shutdown when the run really started. You and a few others tuned ES into a cesspool. Really fell far from when Om and DieHard originally started it, but luckily we have this place now. I’m happy with leaving that stuff at ESz

So just to be clear, the guy who led his team to a Super Bowl in his second season, led the league in QBR, was named an All-Pro, is in the top 2 of almost every single list of QBs for the 2025 season, and is the favorite to win NFL MVP (though it seems almost neck and neck with Stafford)....is not elite yet?

And it's also exhausting how you're so attached to the Maye vs. JD thing that you refuse to even admit that a guy who played that well is elite. I think if it were any other QB you wouldn't be saying that. This all sounds like a huge cope.

JD was elite his rookie season, he had a down second season but I think he'll get back to form. Maye had a very mediocre rookie season, then in his second season he took a huge leap and is now elite. I don't see why those two can't both be true.

I think Maye will be elite and he did have an elite regular season but he has been anything but elite in the playoffs. How can you argue that? I think Maye is going to be a top 5 QB in the league for years to come. Wouldn’t have minded the Skins ending up with him or Jayden. My argument is that Maye is getting way too much hype for the playoffs when in reality he hasn’t done too much. But keep running with that manufactured anger out of no where. Go re read my original post again.

We need JD to have a great year next year otherwise most of us are going to go insane with the shoulda taken Maye talk.

I'll bet I wanted Maye more than anyone else here, but I've moved on regardless of NE being in the SB. JD is my guy now and I can deal with that.
