Good news.
From what I've been able to gather the north south running is not the problem it's the East-WestDidn’t love the tenor of Jayden’s presser today. Nothing he did personally. You can tell he just wants to play.
But I didn’t find it believable. There’s nothing good about needing to wear a knee brace and there’s no chance he’s not inhibited by it or the injury in general.
So, how does the Giants and Packers defenses compare to the Raiders? I wonder how much Jayden suffered from not getting preseason reps (mind you, Marriotta didn't either, but a young player probably needs reps more.)
I'll put this here:
If I had to bet, I think JD5 is going to be out for the next 2 games at a minimum: @Atlanta, @San Diego. I think they want him back for the Monday night game against the Bears. That would give him 3 full weeks to heal and then build up strength again. It could even be @Dallas on October 19th. They really should be playing the long game on this. Mariota is just fine to play the next 3 games and we have a good likelihood of going 2-1 or something like that. They need to take their time. What you don't want is him limping around and getting hurt again.
Disclaimer: I am not a doctor, I don't know what they will do, I'm not even saying what I think they SHOULD do, I just know knee sprains and how careful they have been with everybody who is injured since Quinn got here. The reporting is he wasn't close last week. My guess is the progression goes from "not close" to "not available" to "closer" to playing.
So I'm speculating we see Mariota until the Bears game or Dallas game. I know the NFL would love Daniels to be available for the Bears and Dallas games.
I thought I remember reading (or maybe from radio):I think it's swung a little more towards Daniels playing now, but I fully get what you're saying. Especially with McLaurin out.
We're also heavily biased because of the whole RG3 scenario.
I thought I remember reading:
- Mariota is banged up
- Due to that, they may roll with either of MM or JD who is less injured
I don't know if there is more recent news, I have been buried in work and other things recently. I just remember reading those tidbits.
Is it possible that JD is "less injured" and that's why?
I checked that after posting this. This was said I think on Monday (or read?). So it was something someone on the local radio (I live in the DC area) mentioned.Wait what, Mariota got hurt too? Hold up, he's not on the injury report.
That doesn’t necessarily mean I’m excited about that outcome. His timing/command of this offense is a tad slow/off this year. Mariota has come in… and created some monentum. The offense needed some rhythm… and it finally got some last week. Credit Mariota. He throws a catchable ball and he’s been in target. Receivers are making plays again. It’s a start. Give Mariota another opportunity. Jayden should get at least another full week of full reps. He’s hasn’t been sharp and I dont think missing 1.5 weeks of practice before getting 1-2 before a game is a sound game plan.
It feels so sacrilege to think/say this, but I wouldn’t feel good about winning this week if Daniels is playing. As much as I love watching him play.
It sucks that Terry is out too. This week is going to be a scrap.
Im excited. But less confident than I was against the Raiders.
Thats not good the field in Atlanta has end zones that are located east and west . . . have to hold em out one more game. From what I've been able to gather the north south running is not the problem it's the East-West
I agree 100%. It is September still. Start MM if he can go. give JD5 another week. It’s Thursday. If it is legit, I’m pretty sure it would've been reported by now. Without additional context, I’m pretty sure the implication is that he’s still dealing with the Achilles tendinitis that kept him out of camp. He’s never really been given the all clear publicly by the coaching staff either. But apparently, he was good enough to play… and the only viable option once it was known that Daniels was out. But Mariota might be dealing with that for the rest of the season. That condition can linger a long time.
As I said last week, Daniels is going to only miss 1 game. And he’s playing this week, without a brace.
I don’t have inside info. But as a healthcare professional, there’s enough info there that you can read between the lines of what Daniels and the staff are saying, and what the media is reporting.

Another example of insight you just don't get on other fan sites.Thats not good the field in Atlanta has end zones that are located east and west . . . have to hold em out one more game.
