Besides, while he owned the Redskins he was a billionaire and a bitter, miserable, unhappy man. So, he was already "rich" and unhappy. Now, I'd guess, he's "richer" and still unhappy.
 
He was only technically a billionaire due to the value of the franchise which afforded him that ‘status’ via unrealized gains. He was pretty close to cash poor in actuality. That was why his modus operandi was to exercise scumbag schemes to finance his business and his lifestyle. Including, but not limited to, fixing the books to fraudulently steal from the other owners, borrow money illegally from BOA without his partners knowledge and approval, suing long-time fans, and using every dirty trick in order to avoid returning season ticket deposit money rightly due fans.

Tre Johnson was my favorite player on that 99 team. I remember after the fight against Detroit in the playoffs, he said in an interview afterwards “Is rather be pimpin’ than limpin’”

There was also a game against the Giants, I want to say Tuck or Strahan was hurt (I don’t remember who it was) but Madden pointed out Johnson and Ed Simmons double teaming him. He says “the guy is injured so what do the Redskins do? They throw two refrigerators at him!”
 
He was an awesome pulling guard, devastating in the open field, dreads flying everywhere! Known as the "banga".

Tre Johnson would have been a perennial probowler IF he could have stayed healthy. 99 was the only year that happened, iirc.

I remember that Lions game, Brad Johnson body slammed a guy. That game and Gibbs’ 2005 win were the only playoff wins in Snyder’s tenure.

That 1999 team was good. Brad Johnson, Stephen Davis, Tre Johnson, Jon Jansen, Champ Bailey. We were a botched snap away from an NFC Championship game. Norv really had something going there, I still believe he could have done more if not for Snyder’s meddling.

Jeff George all but guaranteed failure.

He had already been a team cancer on a couple of other teams.

After all the revelations about Snyder’s tenure here in DC we can see why character didn’t really factor into his football moves.

In fairness, Norv had been given a long, long rope and 1999 was really his only good year. Every other year was mired in mediocrity. I think I even remember him starting out one year at like 7-1 and ending the year at 8-8 or something very close to that. Looking at Norv at his other head coaching opportunities, he never got it done anywhere.

Fair enough, Norv was not good, but that 1999 team sure was. Brad Johnson set a team record for completions on the way to a Pro Bowl, and he would go on to win a Super Bowl elsewhere. Stephen Davis was dominant (second in the league in rushing yards and first in touchdowns), and he would have a couple more great seasons with us before becoming a big part of an NFC Championship team elsewhere. Champ Bailey was a standout rookie who would play most of his career elsewhere and become a first ballot Hall of Famer. Meanwhile we were about to suffer through 25 years of losing.

I maintain that the 1999 team should have been given a chance to make another run. Instead Dan Snyder blew it up and we had to suffer through the Jeff George and Steve Spurrier experiments. If not for Joe Gibbs, Snyder would have never seen a team he owned win a playoff game again.
 
Not quite Commanders Social Media, but the Athletic is letting Ben Standig go. Since ESPN only pays Keim to write a blurb every now and then, are there any decent beat writers for articles? (Not talking about podcasts)
