How do you feel about the Commanders Brand 2.0?

  • Vastly improved, if this is THE brand moving forward I’m satisfied.

  • I like the direction, but I still feel more to do. I will/have specified in thread.

  • I don’t like this new direction. I didn’t like the old either. They can’t make this work for me.

Entirely possible it's just the theme for the shoot and nothing more, but I think it works in a number of ways (a take on the spear uniform would be pretty cool, the color scheme fits better than pseudo-military, it works with "vintage" motifs pretty well which is good for a 90 year old franchise..., falls in the category of "human warriors")

I think back in the WFT days when it was still wide open, there was Ancient Rome inspired mockups that people did and none of them swayed me, but the treatment in this shoot I think kind of looks rad?

I understand the premise of "sad bandaid", but I also think our weird hodpodge as it informs our story of trials and tribulations will end up being something to hold on to rather than reject as we go one to bigger and better times, and in light of that an undeniably sick uniform like the spear kit, even with a few alterations, would be pretty fun.
 
There was a Roman Legion with a Boar (Hog) as it's symbol. Honestly, when we were WFT and I was dealing with our loss., I thought about what I could potentially stomach and found this. Leaning into a Roman theme especially with the City's architecture, the US being the "new Rome," coupled with our traditional colors and use of spear imagery makes sense. Now that we are Commanders it makes even more sense as opposed to the round peg-square hole shoehorning of modern military imagery.

Commanders as generic modern military pandering is lame.

A slight angle shift of the brand into Commanders with Roman legionnaire flavor, leaning into the vast political, cultural, and aesthetic connections to modern DC, could be cool. A Roman legion’s shield wall being perhaps one of the better examples of teamwork creating a greater whole from disparate individuals in the fire of battle…you can create a whole identity from that. I could see it playing well if done correctly. It’s cool. It’s actually maybe the only way to give “Commanders” a theme that could be cool and not generic.

Way better than generic military stencil lettering and dog tags (no offense). Throw a Roman centurion helm on Tuddy, give him some burgundy & gold lorica, and let’s go

I agree with most of the sentiments. Shifting the connotation of what 'Commanders' represents would be a pretty clever way to salvage what in it's current vague state is pretty lame.

It reminds me of what Charlotte FC has done. They took the idea of Charlotte being the 'Queen City' and their whole brand is focused around the Medieval Knights, fighting for 'the Crown'. The stadium is 'The Fortress'. Their intro videos are incredible. I wish I could find the 2025 stadium hype video, but here's the 2024 version they play before games. They go all in with the Medieval theme.

The Roman commanders were actually called Centurions. Maybe they should change the name to that and go with the Roman Empire branding, which I kinda like. Can call them ‘Cens’ for a shortened nickname (which would also be a nod to the old baseball Sens). Love and respect our military and those who’ve served but I agree with some of you saying a modern military theme just isn’t popular or cool. And Centurions does not have the Snyder stink that Commanders does.

Just dreaming here, I know we’re stuck with Commanders 😔
 
Boone that is pretty cool. I think you definitely give the people more to latch onto when you take that kind of an approach. The Commanders brand up to this point is pretty generic and the individual is left to interpret it all the way they will. Of course, as another member said above this could have all just been for the photo shoot and nothing more. I doubt it.

Also, there is no other brand in the NFL that has anything along the Greco-Roman lines. Unlike our prior Native American brand before (Chiefs) we would own the market on this kind of branding. We can make it all our own. If they fully realize this approach it could be really REALLY cool.
 
Also saw that there was whispers of a throwback rolling out in July. Supposedly the team put in for a throwback designation through NFL / Nike and the wording of 'Throwback' vs 'Alternate' caught a lot of attention.

It very well could make sense that we have a throwback uniform back to the spear with some adjustment but very apparent back to the 70th anniversary. It easily could be an homage with an opening for interpretation as to what it's actually representing. A way for Harris and co to point back to the roots with the 'out' of saying it's not specific to Native imagery.
 
If that is true, knowing many fans of the Redskins, they will complain that it is not enough. They will say it should have feathers: maybe even trying to pinpoint feathers with Commanders.

For some fans, it’s all or nothing.

My theory with the introduction of the spear...

We all know JD5 lit up jersey sales last year, but we also don't get the full picture on overall merch sales.

My guess is that they might not be as strong as expected given the success of the team. And, maybe that's why we're seeing the return of the spear...a little nostalgia boost at the direction of the Campbell's Soup guy to spark merch sales.
 
I have no idea if the recent photoshoot was indicative of any soon-to-come brand ‘enhancements’, but…if they are, I have no doubt that Mark Clouse is integral in it.

Using a Romanesque slant towards Commanders just make too damn much sense.

I don't know if anybody else local went to the Metallica show at the stadium on May 28th. I did and they were great. Check out this artwork from the show. Pretty cool.

I did! My voice was cracking for 2 days after! I saw this and wanted this on a shirt...no such luck.
