How do you feel about the Commanders Brand 2.0?

  • Vastly improved, if this is THE brand moving forward I’m satisfied.

  • I like the direction, but I still feel more to do. I will/have specified in thread.

  • I don’t like this new direction. I didn’t like the old either. They can’t make this work for me.

And for me I don’t like the numbers. I would rather the black helmet have the regular W logo. I don’t like that 00 is on the ones they sell to the fans.

00 tells me we are 0 x 0 = 0

or Zero x 2 :doh1:

All of this really comes down to personal taste.

I resigned myself a long time ago now that the Skins are never coming back. Not going to say it still doesn't suck, but is what it is. A friend of mine got his Bachelor's and Master's from North Dakota and was completely devastated when they got rid of their 'Fighting Sioux' moniker but eventually came to grips with it and is still a season ticket holder for their football and hockey.

No use worrying about it anymore.

As far as current branding goes for the Commanders name, think fine way it is.

True, but I think we would have ended up in the same place. If Baltimore and Cleveland could reclaim NFL teams, the DMV certainly would as well. We would have been first in line for an expansion team and would be discussing the uniform colors and the name as we are now.

Or, I can imagine a situation like the Rams where we actually would return after a number of years.

From a certain vantage point, the NFL is a crazy business. :LOL:

I mean, I see zero signs that the NFL is preparing or interested in any sort of expansion past 32 teams. If that had happened, DC would have potentially been without a team for a very, very long time.

As the population grows, who knows? Of course it's only a "what if", but I doubt the NFL would want the nation's capital to be without an NFL team.
 
Washington went without an MLB team for 34 years, during what I consider to be the peak of the MLB's media power. Take nothing for granted.
 
That's fair, but I don't think any other professional sport is comparable to the NFL. Sorry to you MLB, NBA, and NHL fans - but there is only one dominant sports league in the US and we all know what it is.

One of my fantasies (prior to the possibility of Snyder being forced to sell became something more than a fantasy) was that the NFL would swing a deal to let Snyder move the franchise elsewhere, with the understanding that a replacement owner would start up an expansion team in DC. In some ways, I think that would have been a cleaner break and easier (in the long-term) for fans to deal with. But Snyder ultimately made his own position so untenable that his 'ouster' was a fait accompli.

Me too.

I am still astounded that Snyder kept digging himself a deeper hole. Nobody could talk sense into him. But he's gone, thank God.
 
Please don't compare the NFL to MLB.

One sport continues to grow the fanbase and enrich itself around the globe while the other suffers from aging fans and regional sports networks that prevent fans from being able to watch many of the games around both leagues.

They finally addressed the Pete Rose situation after how many decades? Wow, there are a lot of things in that sport that move at the pace of molasses besides the play on the field.

I think the reason fans go nuts when they saw the W with the feathers or this picture with the spear is that the name chosen completely stripped the team of it's branded identity. I think Harris would be very smart to bring in a spear or feathers so people that are longtime fans can feel more like it is still the team they grew up with. The new brand has zero identity
 
The counter-argument is that ‘Commanders’ has nothing to do with the former Redskins brand or iconography and that trying to ‘Redskin-ize’ a new logo just seems awkward and sad. That’s kind of my mindset. We moved on from that name and it’s time we all get over it. Seriously - is there a single fan who doesn’t know this team was the Redskins that requires a slapped on visual cue to remember.

I know many seem to want that but it just feels like a sad bandaid to me for something that can never be fixed.
