USA9 has absolutely taken a side against the stadium. I’m not sure why. But every article is anti stadium.

Very odd. I’d understand more of Snyder was still around but he’s not.

Balanced pro/con reporting I get. But everything I’ve seen from them is anti stadium. Maybe it’s click bait.

It’s just odd.
 
If the idiots who run DC are going to look this gift horse in the mouth without having enough neurons fire to appreciate the opportunities in front of them...F'EM!! They deserve what they get

What will be particularly interesting is, if this should fall through (God forbid), will any of these grandstanding assclowns actually do anything to build any of the stuff they're everso passionate about?

If this falls through, there will be an enormous amount of celebration from the damn fools, then they will pay tens of millions of dollars to remove the old RFK stadium, and then the land will basically sit vacant as they argue about it for the next 10 years.

The one thing that has to happen is they have to pull the old stadium down. It's costing money for some degree of upkeep, it's falling down anyway, and it's just an empty eyesore.

They're going to get the bill to pull it down, balk at it, realize there is no offsetting increase in revenue, and then do be stuck as Harris builds a new stadium in Maryland.

I'm really hoping Harris can help save DC from itself. I'm actually somewhat dubious he will be successful. I might be cynical, but I still think there's a 50% chance the stadium ends up exactly where it currently is because the DC government does not have a track record of doing anything productive for the football team. I keep going back to the fact after 3 SBs and 4 SB appearances, DC failed to be able to work something out with JKK. Literally anything is believable.

I do think that would be a HUGE black eye for the city though, because it is in no small part due to the lobbying the Harris group did the land is even in DC's control. It's his group which lobbied and got the bill through the Senate to even return the land to DC. It would be an enormous middle finger to Harris, and honestly the Senators who voted for the bill, to then say "thanks, but we're not going to use it for the purpose (even if it was subtly stated) you intended it to be used for.

But as I said, they DC Government doesn't have a good track record for working with this team. Ironically, they've been better with Ted and the Nats than with the football team, and that track record goes back 50 years. And they would have lost the Caps/Wiz if Louis from VA hadn't nuked the "Glenn Dome" in Virginia.

Better there is a demilitarized zone there than actually doing something that will make a real difference in people’s lives.

The number of numbskulls on X blathering on about "no taxpayer money for billionaire playgrounds!" is eye-twitching. It's like they're just parroting what they think they should say without any real thought of their own.
 
It'll bring lots of jobs.
It'll bring tax revenue.
And with the possibility of Super Bowls, Final Fours, college football championship games, and year-round big-name concerts, it will bring ridiculous revenue to the District that NOTHING else in that space would generate.

Yet, there are some that will fight it anyway. It's exhausting.

Right?

You could have three of the biggest ones, right here in the northeast/mid-Atlantic region, that NO OTHER CITY in this area could handle.

A Super Bowl. It doesn't get any bigger. Restaurants and hotels would lose their minds.
A Final Four. What a huge weekend for local businesses.
A college football national championship. Crown a football champ in our nation's capital? Perfect.
 
For all the locals upset with a stadium in their back yard...you don't live in Mayberry, you didn't move to D.C. for the peace and quiet. You have an eyesore that resembles Chernobyl in your back yard already. Many of the ones complaining "elected" to live in D.C. and knew the "inconveniences" of living in the metro D.C. area. I could go on but I think Im preaching to the choir.

In about 2 years time, we missed out on Taylor Swift and the World Cup, as headliners. How much revenue would those two events bring in alone?
 
Not a giant farmers market and fleamarket instead? Lots of townhouses? A big field with two soccer goals? A few basketball courts? That wouldn't be best?

Or Libraries...or "affordable" housing (in Washington, D.C....Ok) that couldn't possibly exist if we spend less than 10% of the Capital Budget on roads and infrastructure...that would need to be built anyway if they build anything in that area.
