Interesting to hear other teams in the market for an LT opted for younger cheaper options... opening the door for us to nab him. JD5 says thanks.

A very large percentage of players in the NFL have that in common with them lol, especially for pain management. It’s just almost impossible to get caught anymore and they barely test for it. And the league is better for it imo
 
After a (very) little research, I’m afraid there are some questions about Tunsil’s character. It’s not just the bong mask, he’s also had a domestic violence allegation, a seven game suspension at Ole Miss, and a few incidents where his social media was “hacked.” Fortunately those all happened in his younger days, but somebody else was saying that he was a bit of a diva in Houston (not wanting to do OTAs, worried about stats and money, skipping practices, etc.). I don’t know if all that’s true, but it would help explain why two teams have been willing to trade a Pro-Bowl LT. I suppose star players are like that sometimes, so hopefully it’s nothing to worry about.

I think there's reason for some concern (not the bong stuff but diva antics for me) but at the end of the day this is not the old regime and we should give them the benefit of the doubt RE the vetting process. I am stoked for the offense and JD though. Coleman & Larry should be able to lock down that left side.

Of course, CBD is still woefully under prescribed stuck under the grips of big pharms. States going bankrupt made it legal... "we need the taxes".

IMHO concussed players should get a megadose of natural anti-inflammatory's as soon as possible. Or at least get offered one in advance if they'd want one if concussed. Waiting until they got home to cure themselves was needlessly too late. At least the league isn't making players get piss tests all the time.

But even you MUST admit, a bong gas mask is next fucking level.

I heard on Grant and Danny that our shiny new LT had 19 penalties last year :oops:. Mostly procedural but that's a damn lot. Presume a lack of focus or ? Meanwhile we had guys with only 3.

Maybe our hyper hurry up offense is perfect for him. No bullshit to have to deal with stuck in his stance. It is painful to see your own lineman being fooled by the QBs cadence or presnap shenanigans. OC never adjusting to quick snaps to end the madness. Presume like Houston did.

A bit more concerning to some may be his run blocking which they implied is less than stellar. What is his run strength, zone is he fleet of foot, or is he more a plow the road mauler, or middle of the road?

I am happy to reserve judgement on any warts because our JD makes everyone around him better. How bout dem apples.
 
Good coaching can clean up those penalties. He's 5 time Pro Bowl LT. He will definitely help more than he will hurt.
 
I listened to the Galdi interview with Cody Stoots, some Texans guy who had 10,000 followers on something.

1. He reminded me a ton of a Texans version of Chris Russell. Speech pattern was not as pause-y but similar, he seemed to get out of breath just by talking, and just had the same overall somewhat blow hard tone.

2. I think he thought he was being paid by the number of times he could say “Laremy Tunsil.” He always used the full name and often multiple times in a sentence.

3. The level of criticism of Tunsil, given he even admitted he was probably a top 5 LT in the league was a bit over the top. “Yeah, he’s a top 5 alt, but here are 1,385 reasons why he sucks as a human being.” My analogy would be like saying Sydney Sweeny was gorgeous but being obsessed because she had a chipped fingernail.

4. The whole thing felt like a girl who just found out her first boyfriend had broken up with her to go date the captain of the football team.

5. I normally try to take some piece of useful knowledge from every interview (except for that batshit crazy woman Bram has on who thought Daniel Jones was a good QB and only being held back by circumstance, she be crazy) but it was hard to both listen to this guy or really take anything he said seriously.

Tunsil is a top 5 LT. He gets some presnsp penalties. He is not necessarily a team leader. But he’s a good player.

I think that’s my general takeaway of all the things.

I know he's top 5 tackle (14 replies heh) but I still can't wrap my brain about all those false starts. If it is correctable... why wasn't it. Its a small red flag to me on a player I admit I know nothing about and trust AP especially since he got us close to going bowling in his first year. Again I expect hurry up/less audibles will decrease the chance of it recurring. I know, you are not concerned.

But food for thought not specific to Tunsil. What's an acceptable amount of penalties from a star player before its too many and that star looses a little shine. Or, a lot. A lessor player would be cut. Again not specific to him, but has anyone ever done the math... I bet GMs have. Maybe even Houstons. Curious... what % of false starts on first downs are drive killers. Or any downs. I contend one of the worst plays in football is a run up the gut on 1st down no gain (gotta keep the defense honest) and take a holding penalty. 1st and 20. But coaches are happy to try that play even though their OL commits lots of holding calls.

There were some early reports that he was trying to get a head start in certain situations and simply moved early, and there is a strong belief a simple correction will fix it. Also, he addressed it in one of his interviews and said it is unacceptable for the type of standard he sets for himself. I imagine they are pretty confident it won't repeat. I may be wrong on this, but I think a very large percentage occurred early in the season in a clump of games too, so it may have been temporary even in the course of the season as well. Not sure on that point.
