Official Game Thread - Playoffs Week 1 - Commanders @ Buccaneers - SNF

I don't know why anyone would want the game on Sunday night. The waiting all day is torture. But damnit we are 12-5 and getting valuable playoff experience, we're playing with house money so we can't lose.

But I honestly don't like them in this game. We were not even competitive in the opener and Baker has an annoying habit of appearing unstoppable at times. Sure we're not the same team as we were in the opener. We are also not the same team we were in the fall when they routinely hung up 41 points. If we were honest with ourselves we would admit the infamous KK mid-season drop off has occured once again in Washington. Jayden is simply not as accurate as he was 2 months ago, he's just not, and that is all a concern to me.
Our mediocre receiving corp also has a lot of crucial drops though...if it hits their hands, then it should be a catch. Certainly skews Jayden's numbers quite a bit.

Not going to lie, this game scares me.

Baker Mayfield gets on rolls and last game was telling, 4 TD’s but thankfully Godwin isn’t playing this time, but Evans did have 5/61 2TD’s himself, our weak secondary really really scares me, 2 mediocre WR’s yesterday for Dallas had really good days imho. And, even if Lattimore plays, is he even remotely near 90% yet alone 100 and let’s be honest, Mike Evans has schooled Lattimore over his career.

Also, our slow starts on offense the last 2 weeks doesn’t bode well in the playoffs, specially against a QB like Mayfield, also remember this, BRob has been pretty much non existent these last few weeks and if not for Daniels our running game has been lack luster to say the least. If we don’t get going fast on offense and would have to play from behind the majority of this game it could get ugly. Their Defense with no running attack from BRob would pin their ears back and could fix on Jayden and the passing attack.

Yeah I don't really like them at all in this game. But they could lose 74-0 and I'm still happy. This is a game nobody expected us to play and we're just getting started.

This game is honestly a win-win. Either we get our first playoff victory in almost 20 years and keep going, or we fall short and never have to see Benjamin St-Juste in a Washington uniform ever again.
I talk about these games as Ben Kenobi games.

If you strike me down, Darth, I shall return greater than you can imagine. If I strike you down... Well, we're all good with that, too.

Arrow is going up means nothing coming from Quinn, the master of deception. I'll be stunned if Lattimore plays.

McMillen is red hot 7TDs in 7 games - he scares the crap out of me. Sub zero better follow him.

Baker will throw the odd pickle - we need to score on the 1 or 2 turnovers we may get our hands on. Otherwise he is a pain in the ass and won't be easy to contain.

Jayden and his torn up knee extremely mild leg soreness better be able to run at full speed. Our non 5 run game has vanished and it won't magically appear against Tampa's front.

That all said, I love our chances and will be betting heavy on sinking the butt pirates and their entire shiphole stadium.

I see that people are a little antsy given that if we lose we go home, but fellas take a deep breath, have some hope and uh yeah, grow a pair, lol. Enjoy this week and revel in the fact that we go into battle with one of the most dangerous players in the league leading the charge. We have more than a chance to leave that stadium just as we did in 2006 after our last playoff win. Be present, Be calm, and lets go pillage that booty...! ARGH....

I’m with ya KILLA (hope I get to meet you and family Sunday), lots of Debbie downerism going on here. Look, I get it, I’m an old guy who still can recall Otto Graham and Vince Lombardi. I got to live my younger adulthood during the salad years of Gibbs I. You younger guys have had to endure two and a half decades of the black cloud that was Dan Snyder, but I’m here to tell you, rejoice! The days of dread are over. It is time to learn how to enjoy being a relevant football team once again!

Win or lose Sunday, hold your head high, as the accomplishments of this season are truly extraordinary. This team authored one of the greatest turn arounds in NFL history, and with the best quarterback we’ve seen here in at least half a century, if not since the GOAT himself Sammy Baugh, this franchise is primed to be a player in the league for years to come.

So, now is not a time to fret, and worry over one Sunday night. Certainly winning is always the goal, but don’t discard the big picture if we lose. A franchise that was on life support for the past decade plus, is now hale and hearty, and competing at the top level. Enjoy…win or lose, enjoy the ride…it has only just begun.

I will be stunned if he doesn't play. He was apparently 'close' to being available against Dallas. I don't think there was any world in which he was risked against Dallas though.

This week was the target and I think he will good to start. Now if that hammy holds up and can finish is another question - I expect lots of shots of him riding the bike during periods the D is off the field to keep that hammy warm.

Dont believe anything Quinn says regarding injuries.

That said, I am thrilled to be wrong but in no way do I think he is 100% healed and it should surprise no one if he taps out early. If I was Tampa I would run Evans deep to start the game - several times. If i am wrong and he is at 100% and survives the game, my attention goes to JD5 and his quad. Hopefully that late Sunday game affords those 2 time needed to heal that much more.

Oh and Biadazz and Coleman and all the others limping in, including our 2 top targets and pass rushers.

I'm cautiously optimistic.

I watched a little of our week 1 game, and wow we are such a different team. Out starting corners were Forbes and BSJ. Brutal. Jamin Davis getting snaps. And the bucs had Godwin then. Our offense was hesitant and conservative. JD was inaccurate. We are in a much better place right now.

But Tampa has a very good offense and their stadium will be rocking.

I like our chances. We are playing with house money so I'm just going to enjoy it.
