Support Tarhog and the ownership here man… my days of doing this are long gone. Five kids, full time job, multiple side businesses, etc…. I’m just ecstatic to have a team and front office that is easy to love again, and friends like you have here at BGO and at the Extremeskins Tailgate who can still bring that passion daily.

Best part is I can finally share a my passion for the team with some of my kids, and root for a team worthy of their affection

Although I am a long time lurker and posted very little on ES, I feel compelled to let all of the original cast know how via your vision you created a true brotherhood that went beyond football or even sports. The quality of content, layout, and user interface, as well as the amazing people that posted on the site turned an idea and a program code into a breathing life for so many of us. It was the first thing I read in the mornings, throughout my day and finally how I finished my night. It was more than "redskins", it was getting to know the people, sharing in heartache and extreme pride in good times whether in sports or in life, it was a part of me and I thank you for letting us all be a part of something so special. You sirs, if even for a brief time changed the world. What an amazing read!
 
I joined ES as a 14 year old in high school and I am 36 now. Being a part of ES made up nearly 2/3rds of my life and my entire adult life. I spent so many hours every week on it - the discussions were captivating, the analysis was sharp, nuggets would be leaked from time to time, etc. Most importantly, it was a refuge to go to through all the losing seasons - my interest in the team started in the 99 offseason when Snyder bought the team. I was 11 at the time and used to read the Sports section in the Post everyday. It intrigued me that a 30 something was buying the team and shaking things up. That 99 season got me hooked and I've been a fan since (like the 96/97 Orioles got me hooked for 15 years of losing until their next playoff appearance).

I lost serious hope during the Rivera era - the way they imploded in 2022 with Carson Wentz coming in for Heinicke to lose to the lowly Browns was such a low. We are so fortunate that Snyder sold the team and we have really great new ownership. (Let's not discount this fact the Bears, the Jets, the Panthers, the Browns and the Raiders are all stuck with absolutely crappy ownership for god knows how long. We got so lucky)

I am so excited for this new era.
 
When I first stumbled on ES there were 35 registered members. Not sure why but I've always remembered that.

I was internet-shy at the time--all I knew about internet message forums was that I wouldn't let my young kids anywhere near them. I lurked for a few weeks, reading, and ended up being blown away there were other people out there "like me," which to me meant obsessed with the Redskins and willing/able to write coherently and discuss passionately all things burgundy and gold.

Anyone remember their first post? I do. There was a discussion about a recent or upcoming game against Baltimore. One of our OL came up in the conversation, and for some reason I chose to break my internet forum cherry with: "Quoth the Ravens: Mookie Moore?" Don't ask.

What a long strange trip it's been. Here's to all involved and all the memories ...

Om, I was obsessed with the Skins, but couldnt (and still cant) write coherently.

The game against the Ravens was something. 10-3, with Tony Banks throwing us an INT near halftime. Ended with a Ravens fan in a suite passing us drinks through the window. Memories....

Man, ES was such an incredible community. I got to do so much shit just because I knew a little about a game and this team. Covering the team, now doing podcasts for BGO - it’s incredible, really.

I will always have a place in my heart for all of you guys. Blade who I didn’t interact much with, Die Hard who I met long ago, Boone who I met alongside DH (I think?), TK, and many, many more. Neophyte who I always enjoyed, PCS, Jumbo (who banned me once!), etc. oh and Om I left him out by accident the first pass (too many of you guys!) but I’ve ALWAYS respected him.

Going to the tailgate when I came up. Meeting you all. ES is family. And while we aren’t there anymore a great number of people who I consider to be “friends” despite not knowing them well “irl” are here.

I can’t even name everyone who I’ve met and value. So many of you are here. And I think that’s why I landed here. This feels like the old ES.

Thank you to all of the original creators. And thank you for all the opportunities my stupid love for a bad franchise has allowed me in life.

And now we’re good? Ya. The cherry on top.

Thanks for posting this, such an awesome story. I've got my 25th anniversary at work this year and I've spent most (if not all of that) reading ES every day, and occasionally posting. Travelling internationally for work, having a one-stop shop for all things Redskins was life-saving. BGO is my new home now and I echo all those that say how much it resembles old ES, and also how great it is to see so many old friends here. Thanks all.
 
Actually, whenever I’ve re-read some of my posts from many moons ago… not only can I not remember writing any of them… I don’t even think it sounds like me. It’s like a completely different person.

At first I’m impressed… then I quickly lament my obvious cognitive decline. I’m happier now… I know that for sure. 😂
