Anyone Use an Air Fryer?

Curious about this class of cookers. I’ve looked around a bit but wondered if anyone had researched these and/or had any recommendations from personal experience?
 
every day. I swear by it!

nuggets, tots, etc for the boys

we use it for bang-bang shrimp for us, and several other things daily.

The ONE thing I will tell you about it is this: do NOT use ANY kind of abrasive scrubber on the part itself that you put the food on. soak it, use a wet paper towel...or else it will lose its nonstick almost immediately.
 
I ended up getting a Breville. Pricey but it looks like a traditional toaster oven (a really really nice toaster oven). It is an air fryer but you can also use it for pizza, baking, broiling... trying it out right now...
 
prepare for your mind to be blown. Once you figure it out, its a real game changer. Especially in summer when its hot and you dont have to fire up the oven!

Instant pots are amazing, too.

damn, I feel too domestic now. I need to go chainsaw something with a beer in my hand!!
 
I did some kimchi pancakes in air fry mode. Came out great!

You are now addicted. Look up recipes. You'll be stunned at all the things you can make and do.
 
Marinated and fried tofu intrigues me. Crispy garbanzo beans too. I think this thing will get some use for sure :)
 
we will take shrimp and kielbasa and peppers/onions/mushrooms and make it in there.

bro...you put some spices on that joint and you've got a light but extremely filling good dinner/lunch.
 
Been contemplating buying an air fryer and this feedback thread is great!

I do not trust so-called Air Fryers.
It's a complete Oxymoron.
You cannot fry with air.
You can only fry with oil
If there is no oil, there is no frying.
Let's settle that once and for all, before moving on to the next step.

Wow, hopefully you're kidding here and not about to shit on a good thread where people like their air fryers :)
 
I agree it’s not 100% like frying in oil, but with the use of a littl oil it’s a pretty good approximation . Definitely produces something it would be difficult to produce in a conventional oven.
 
I read somewhere when you fry french fries or even chicken in an air fryer you should spray some oil on them. Is this true? How do you come up with crispy fries and chicken?

So - I did some chicken breasts in it the other day. They were delicious but what happens is because you aren’t immersing them in hot oil, some of the chicken will just have flour n places vs. the ‘golden crust’ you’d expect. I don’t think it has any effect on taste, but if you don’t use spray oil they look pretty bad :)
 
I have thought about an air fryer, but just too loyal to my deep fryer. I am an old fart that likes real fried food. Besides keeps my doctor happy since he can fuss about my cholesterol.
 
For me, I just love the convenience of it. I have a deep fryer too but it is a pain in the ass to use.
 
its weird because it is like real fried food, but not oily and your kitchen doesnt end up with the smell.

you can't do doughnuts or anything like that in it. but, it makes things very easy, less hot in the summer, and better for people.
