Random Commanders Thoughts

Wow! Awesome work. Gonna take some time to digest this.

Oh I've got no confidence in a win against the rams. There's no way in hell theyre hanging 46 points on our D tho. Now if Kurt gets stupid with pick-6's, which is totally in his wheelhouse, maybe.

The only thing the Rams got goin for them is, like the Eagles, they signed a young kid who knows our offense really well.

Agree with this totally, though, Win, who is "Kurt" <grin>?

Their Offense hung 30, not 46, and I agree, no chance they hang 30 on us.

So, I played around a little more with this NFL Play dataset last night just trying to learn what I have here and I thought I'd look at Defense. I may not have said in my last post, but since I'm still learning how to analyze this data, it may not be 100% accurate, but I expect it's pretty close. For this set, I looked at the last three seasons and wanted to look at how often we let a first down be converted at different distances. And then I compared it to the NFL numbers over the same time period. It should be noted that this Conversion percentage is for the very next play (e.g. on 2nd and 10, did they get at least 10 yards on that play? It does not look at if they eventually got 10 yards in that set of downs).

First chart is the NFL averages over the last three seasons.

Second chart is the Washington defense. The differences in how we played on 3rd with 11-15 yards and 6-10 yards stood out to me.

You should really put this all in a new thread brother - it's great work and it'll just get lost in the Random thread here. Also - stats #'s would be a lot easier to read in white font.

Cousins isn't the guy to lead this team. If he is, he better stop throwing game losing interceptions and costly turnovers starting... oh, I don't know.. now?

Good point. I debated that originally, but wasn't sure how far I would take it. Thanks for the input on the color.

Don't feel obligated - I can do it for you if you want...

Don't forget tonight's new 30 for 30 on ESPN: The Year of the Scab

Featuring the Redskins and the 1987 season.

I still think that taking a team full of scab players into Dallas for Monday Night Football and beating a Cowboys team that had alot of veterans cross the picket line, was Joe Gibbs' greatest coaching feat and makes him the greatest coach in NFL history,IMO.

Can't wait to see it!

Doc we don't have a Kurt. When Bruce Allen held the presser after Cousins refused to sign a ltd he kept referring to our qb as "Kurt"

I was just carrying on Bruce's buffoonery is all.

Yeah, meant it was a team effort point fest the goats threw on. Until Jay figures out we NEED to run a minimum of 25 times per game we'll lose most of them.

It's like when Darius had a servant whisper in his ear every day "remember the Athenians". That should be little Phillips new job imo to say "Jay, run the ****ing ball" at least 7 times a quarter.

Norval Gruden is saying Doctson is limited because of a "tight" hammy.

Someone needs to explain to the kid there's a difference between being injured and being in pain.

But that's part of the 'devil's bargain' isn't it? :behead2:

The NFL is a 'passing league' but if your quarterback drops back that many times to throw and he is not Brady, Rodgers, Ryan, etc. than you inevitably suffer TURNOVERS either picks or fumbles on qb hits that ultimately lose you the game.........................

So, either you have to have a rock solid pass protection OL and a quarterback with uncanny skills to remain upright and extend plays to avoid this trap OR like Dallas you have to be able to run the ball well enough that when the qb does go back to pass the rushmen have to honor the threat from the backfield and not just pin their ears back.......................

and if you have Dallas' offensive line that calmly moved La'el Collins into the one vacant spot in the offseason and not miss a beat.............
