Only problem I have with Gallette is our staff. They've counted on having him twice, instead of think of him as an added bonus. Then we're scrambling to convert Murph back to OLB, and shuffling the rotation before the season started because we've started out short handed. Hoping Greg doesn't go about it the same way Berry did, and covers his ass with a player to bring in to compete. I'd love to get Gallette on the field, but I won't count on seeing it. Neither should the team.

Going to be the first to predict it. Josh Doctson is a total beast of a first round pick and will play a full season (80% or more of the seasons during his career) on his way to the NFL HOF.

By sitting out ALL of 2016 after he threw himself out there too soon, he no longer even runs. He mostly flies. He only runs on water, in a pool for God's sake. Medical science is baffled by his tiger juice.

I think he's gonna set new team records that will actually lead to wins in Super Bowls.

Totally agree. Not only that, but McClou gets a big fat X on his resume for it. That's hard to overcome, first choosing a guy we totally didn't need, but totally missing on his skill set. Best player available has its flaws, and we see it up close. Less talented players who see more game minutes has a higher value thhan the potential of an impact player who rides the pine. There is no substitute for a guy who can consistently get on the field. Only Jerry Jones bets on the come with injured players. Cut bait.

He wasn't injured when he was drafted.

He was injured in one of our camps.

Also: It's January.

Let's see where he's at in July. If he can't run by then, by all means, give Scot hell.

It's an issue now, and something to think about now, because not knowing his current health status totally throws a curve into our draft. Our drafting this April, is impacted by not knowing whether or not we have a healthy Doctson, or a brittle Doctson with a highly uncertain NFL future.

'It's January' ???

It's January after he missed his entire rookie season, and not only is he no closer to being healthy than he was at the start of the season, they don't even know what the hell is wrong with him. It's a big deal.

I'm not blaming anyone - it's typical Redskins luck.

But I think odds are better than not he's a total bust of a first round pick. And that is a killer.
 
Jeebus, makes ya wonder if the team doctors are Amish...using leaches and such.

B/R: The way to look at it is that if everything goes according to plan, you're going to have to overpay. But it also means you have a quarterback.

SM: Correct, and I'm OK with that (laughs). Let me overpay him if he's good. If you have a productive guy, it helps everything, and it proves out. You look around this league and see the teams that are in the playoffs every year and look who the quarterbacks are. Look at the ones who win. It proves out. Don't get me wrong, the O-line is huge. The running game is huge, which we had in Seattle. But when it's all said and done and the quarterback can get the guys rallied around him, you have a chance.

You're going to play good defense. That's easy to fix. You just draft good football players. They can be a small guy, a big guy, as long as they can find the ball. The special teams are going to be good because we're going to build through the draft, so the younger guys will be big in that. But that quarterback, I'm telling you...

I wouldn't either publically right now. We have absolutely no idea what is being said internally at this point. Kudos also to his representatives for not trying the case through the media.

I agree it sounds like Kirk doesn't sound excited or highly interested about staying here.
And it could be the politics of negotiating and proper "negotiating-speak".
However it just sounds weird to hear the coach and GM say they absolutely, positively expect Kirk to be back next season, on one hand, but yet when a reporter asks Kirk the same question, he's all iffy and skirts around answering the question.
Maybe that's how his agent wants it, in order to get the best possible contract for Kirk's best interests. But if that's true, wouldn't that negotiating principle also apply to the coach and GM in their statements, which have been starkly different from Kirk's ?
So I still can't shake the feeling Kirk either wants to go somewhere else, or will make it unusually difficult for the Skins to make a deal with him. I mean, even if you consider typical "negotiating tactics", still - the LEAST I'd expect Kirk to say, is something along the lines of, "Yea I'm hopeful and optimistic to remain a Redskin and get a contract done, but still we just have some hurdles to get through".
But yet he's not even saying that much.

The team needs Cousins more than Cousins needs the team. Talk is cheap. Worst case for him is he gets tagged again and only makes 24m next season.
 
Too bad flashy stats that produce nothing but, flashy stats, isn't cheap.

Fear nailed it. There is nothing that hurts #8's chances of getting overpaid by simply saying, "Sure I'd like to stay here, but..."

Nothing at all.
 
And there is nothing hurt by radio silence except for bruising the sensibilities of some fans. ;)

The only thing that matters is the dialog between the parties.
