If I'm reading this right, and it's quite possible I'm not, Cousins threw for 7196 yards and 47 TDs?
 
Er.... didn't do a stats inventory, just grabbed the thing and put it up but yeah that's what it looks like doesn't it.
 
Yet he couldn't break Sonny's TD record.

What a ****ing BUM!! I'm so glad we benched him for Colt yesterday!
 
Plus Sonny did it in 14 games. When DB's could legally rape WR's on the field of play.

Kirk did a very good thing. Kudos for that. And one day he may become another Sonny.

But that day isn't here yet.

Everything is fine. He's just negotiating through the media. You don't tell the team "Yeah I will do whatever I can to stay here", because then the team offers you a ham sammich instead of a contract. You make the team want you so bad they break the bank for you. His play the last several games did that. He's just backing it up with his words. Besides, even if he doesn't want to sign, the team will just franchise him for next year.
 
I wish some of these contracts were done earlier. Scot's the man when it comes to spotting talent, but I wish he'd work on anticipation a little more. Why wait until the last minute on guys like Reed for example? We'll have no better option.

Ditto on Cousins. La'el Collins was an easy one...etc.
 
Then again, I know it takes two to tango. It's often in the player's best interests to wait a few months when teams are loaded with money and the cap increases.
 
Collins certainly had more upside and only tiny financial risk. Spencer did come from OSU and was supposed to excel at ST--so I do understand some interest on our part. He does seem to have a lot of family members in the league.

If Cousins doesn't sign here, it will be the dumbest thing he'll ever do in his life. He will be set up for complete failure if he goes anywhere else. It will also show that money is more important to him than success.

He ain't going nowhere. But 1 year does not warrant a mega contract. Make him a good offer, and let him walk if he turns it down.

That's not the way it works in the NFL. He'll get an 80-100 mil. contract off this year. And you darn sure don't let him walk. There's no reason to assume he's not the QB we see. It's a risk, but unfortunately one the team is forced to take. If you're on the fence, franchise him a year to get another look. I'm not a fan of doing that but if they can't come to terms, that's what will happen.
