Random Commanders Thoughts

Stop fewelling the fire ...

Btw - there are rumors Perry Fewell will be the new DB coach...

Rumor is where it's at ain't it?
.... here's some more

Perry Fewell drew up game plans to stop the Redskins a couple of times a year since becoming the Giants’ defensive coordinator at 2010, but he’ll have a different take on Washington’s team this year.

According to multiple reports, Fewell has agreed to become the team’s defensive backs coach a couple of weeks after the Giants canned him after a 6-10 season. Fewell also interviewed for a job on the 49ers staff and reportedly received an offer to come on board, but opted to stay in the NFC East.

Fewell will inherit a group that contributed to Washington allowing 249.4 yards per game in 2014 under Raheem Morris, who has departed for a job with the Falcons. With safeties Brandon Meriweather and Ryan Clark and cornerback E.J. Biggers all headed for free agency and Joe Barry replacing Jim Haslett as defensive coordinator, there will likely be a lot of new faces in the group next season.

Should Fewell want those faces to be familiar, he could push the team to bid for Giants defensive backs hitting free agency. Safeties Antrel Rolle and Stevie Brown join cornerbacks Walter Thurmond and Zack Bowman in that group.

I have one question...what is Perry Fewell's connection to Tampa Bay? The people want to know!

Perry Fewell has agreed to join the Redskins' coaching staff, according to an NFL source.

His D was awful last year in NY. Let's hope focusing on only the DBs will bring a refreshing change.

He had a really nice Defense in Buffalo a few years back... before they made him interim HC, that is. Hope he can regain his swagger a little as a position coach.

From the arbiter of all facts that is Wikipedia...

Fewell was hired as defensive coordinator of the Buffalo Bills in 2006. In what was statistically their best season under Fewell, the 2008 Bills defense ranked 2nd in the AFC in negative yardage plays, recorded 7 games of holding opposing offenses to less than 100 yards rushing, finished 4th in the NFL in red zone defense (41.8%), and allowed just 14 passing TDs all year.[SUP][2][/SUP]
In Week 10 of the 2009 season, the Bills fired head coach Dick Jauron after a disappointing start and Fewell was appointed interim head coach. He led Buffalo to a 3-4 finish. Following the season finale, the Bills fired their entire coaching staff, including Fewell.

There is both cause for concern with this hiring, and cause for wild glee.

On one side, guys named Perry usually have long hair and play in Rush cover bands. They are almost always Canadian.

I can't think of a single guy with the first name of Perry who has ever done anything in the league before.

On the other hand, there was the Fridge. So that's a good omen.

Mixed feelings. I laughed, I cried. 4 stars!

I've heard rumors Taylor Mays was a free agent...

DL Perry Brooks (RIP)

McD, didn't you do the whole "I can't think of a single person in the league..." and I named like 3 people, one who won a super bowl?

Was it chandler?

I think you remember what I mean here.

Perry Brooks

I can't remember much about Perry Brooks, RIP. But college at FSU may have something to do with it.

Perry Riley?

Exactly.

Courtney Bridget. Cursed with two bad names. The double voodoo. Impossible odds to overcome.

Courtney Upshaw...lol

Some days you're on the wrong end no matter how you try ;)

Maske was a bit uncharitable to Fewell.

When he had the horses in 2010 and 2011 the team did well.

When Tuck, Umenyiora, Rolle and others started aging and folks weren't being replaced the unit became very mediocre.

But GM Jerry Reese has some explaining to do too.

Amukamara was not worth a #1 pick.

Free agents like Chris Canty were busts.

LOL

Naples aint squat compared to Cape Coral where I'm at. Largest German part time population in the state. Knowing the menus sounds like you've visited the area.... and didn't even drop me a line so I could buy ya a drink......

About the only thing you need to know is "do you have jäger schnitzel?" And order either a Bitburger or Bischoff to wash it down.

Courtney Upshaw was the SB player. Courtney Bridget was the guy that was placed on IR here.

There were a few Upshaws. But the Courtney Bridget combo of names was insurmountable.

Just posted on the Redskins twitter account. Today is Tuesday, right?

Curious to hear about how those who used the excuse that Wade Philips wasn't being persued by any other teams feel about Philips being hired by the Denver Broncos?
