No, he's not. His job title is 'Offensive Coordinator'. Obviously, when you don't have a dedicated 'Quarterback's Coach', he is the closest thing to it. But it's not the same. And my point is, I don't think Gruden think's he has any need for a dedicated quarterback coach. Because, you know, he's got such a great handle on that position.
 
As the article/blog mentions, supposedly both Gruden and McVay split the QB duties.
I believe it was also mentioned during one of the post-season pressers that a QB coach hire might be in the works or at least looked into.
 
Not really Tom. McLovin and Allen were pressed on that topic and gave the stock 'we'll do anything that will help us win' answer. I don't think Gruden wants anyone but McVay and him involved - just my sense.

The stock answer does seem to cover the 'looked into' part but I suppose the 'guru' tag on Gruden might carry as much weight as you suppose.

How great would it be if neither Shanahan found a job in the NFL this year?

I'd laugh so hard if Kyle was unemployed after leaving Cleveland.

Why? Just curious. A 49ers friend of mine would be happy to see Kyle hired by them.

It would be fitting. They were "fired" but they forced their way out and Mike got paid to not coach yet again. This act has got to wear thin on owners around the league, no?
 
the hate for Mike I can get...but what did Kyle do wrong?

I remember him being quiet in the middle of it all and not dragging Griffin thru any mud but just doing his job. It was dad that was always having issues with the team and management.

Or am I mistaken?

I remember a few articles that suggested Kyle might like this QB, not like that QB, complained about the food in our cafeteria, and portrayed him as a crybaby type.

Then in Cleveland it continued. He didn't want to have to play Johnny Football, had problems with the scouts, was rumored to have many of his non-football friends hanging around in the locker room and now he's gone again after one year.

What team in their right mind would ever guarantee a 4 year contract and the money involved at this point?

I mean seriously, who does this guy think he is? He should be a little more grateful to even have a job in the NFL imho.
 
Mel Kiper just released his mock draft. He has the Redskins taking Randy Gregory. His comments are below.


5. Washington Redskins - Randy Gregory, DE/OLB, Nebraska

Analysis: Gregory is the type of pass-rushing talent that can transcend systems. Long, athletic and highly explosive coming off the edge, he's a little undersized as a classic 4-3 defensive end and could play in space a little better as a 3-4 outside linebacker. But he can flat out cause disruption -- not just as a pass-rusher, mind you, because he'll also play with good leverage against the run and make plays in the backfield. Washington should be purely in the "take a great football player" category, and Gregory fits the bill and can make them better as a rookie.
 
So that would be first round picks in 2009, 2011 and now 2015 along with the top pick in Round 2 in 2014 at the same position.

It's a shame we have to put together a 53 man team.

If only this was the NBA we could stockpile forwards in the draft, pick up a backcourt in free agency and be on our way 😀
 
Skins will be making a play for Bill Callahan. Their OL coach, Chris Foerster likely to reunite with Rex in Buffalo. Skins covet Callahan...

seems to me more an indictment of scouting/player evaluation than strategy.
