PFT: Report: Scot McCloughan expected to be the new G.M. in Washington

I'm curious. Just how far removed from ones transgressions does a person have to get before people stop bringing them up? When was the last time we actually had evidence of Snyder meddling? Yet you & several others consistently bring it up as if this were an ongoing current problem. Maybe I don't get all the local stuff & inside stories, but the last time I heard anything about Dan Snyder getting involved & "meddling" was....well, it's been a while. Any chance you plan on dropping it any time soon?

I'm local and I get all of my Redskins' news online. There is no exclusive local stuff that is not online.

On more of a "random" note, it's incredibly difficult to pick who was worse--Vinny or Bruce Allen.

Not only did Bruce blow on organizational structure, the personnel department and other nonsense, but it's recently come to light that he also oversaw the organization's social media department. That was an absolute epic fail. From botched press releases to the pathetic twitter campaign, it's hard to imagine any one individual could possibly be more of a bumbling idiot.

It's amazing to think someone like that can hold a job down--any job. There are far more qualified charitable $$ raisers, and certainly someone else in the country is also qualified to work out contracts.

If he's being paid more than $50k a year Dan is getting abused.

Nope, not difficult at all. All you have to do is ask yourself if Vinny would have hired McCloughan and stepped back from the personnel side of things. The answer to that question tells you everything you need to know about who was/is worse.

Memories of patterns of behavior die hard, Gulf Coast. You might be surprised how many times, while doing Redskins Recon, I run across references to and attributions of problems with the Redskins being generated by Snyder meddling in team affairs. There is very little mention of Allen in comparison except for an occasional "Snyder&Allen" reference. This seems to be an expression of a normal human tendency to categorize people and label them as a particular "kind" of person "by nature", which also makes it difficult to assimilate the idea of being capable of behavioral changes.

Interesting. I didn't realize the Redskins' potential new GM had lived in Hawaii.

like a sexy hamburger....I like him more already!

I think you are correct...I think this really was his only move to save the fanbase. He knows the fans are fed up.

The problem I have with this hiring is that it is the perfect marketing ploy as the new season tickets are about to go on sale. In the very near future invoices are going out...on top of that, they will try to market them. They will do all this using the McCloughan hire as the "A New Era Dawning in DC!"

Again, this is the man I was screaming for a month ago...here it is and I have to be honest, I am just numb...or maybe callous. Who knows?

I don't agree with it. I don't see this as a deperate move to appease the fans. I've never waivered in my comments on the front office. I wasn't on the bash Snyder/allen bandwagon.

What I have preached is that it appeared to me from my perspective, that Dan has already changed his ways. And that it came with bringing in Allen and Shannahan. Then letting them do their jobs. Then firing Shanahan but keeping the GM promoting him to President. I said all along, it was small steps in the right direction, that we were now on what I see at the right path. Yes that path was full of speedbumps, but we take the route slow and sure, until we get it right and get to where this team needs to be.

I see this new GM hire as an extension of that changed philosophy, along with the Gruden hire. Now don't get me wrong, Gruden will be fired in soon enough, it always happens to almost all the teams. Don't get caught up in all that. We are more concerned about establishing a foundation and team building philosophy. Still won't happen overnight. I suspect 4-5 years if we rely on the draft alone, shorter time if we take advantage of getting the RIGHT guys in free agency.

We had to suffer the 4 win season for the move to be made though, I will agree with that, but to me its consistent with what I have been witnessing. Fast forward 3 years of new players and then a new coach the 4th year, we will be knocking on the promised land doors. What my crystal balls tells me.

bwa ha ha Gulf Coast. NOT a Chance of dropping it. TR1 only reads his own posts I'm convinced he lives in an alternate NFL universe.

Finally and officially: Scot McCloughan reached agreement to become Redskins GM.

Dan ain't gonna let the big whale get away!

This could very well be the day we see the Redskins make that wide U-turn and become the franchise we older folk remember!

Hopefully "report to" means "here is what I want, make the numbers work."

Like to see Tyler Polumbus resigned.

The entertainment of it would be priceless.

Yeah, it's a sick world and I'm a happy guy.
