Where is there any proof that Cousins would definitely be better?
There is no real, adequate proof. No one will accept 1 full game and 2 half games from last year, plus preseason; rightfully so. There never will be any adequate proof either, it won't be allowed. As long as Robert is on the team and medically cleared to play the game he will be the QB that takes the field.
My point is if the guy at the position now isn't getting the job done then it's natural to wonder what changed. Did Griffin all the sudden become stupid? Is he no longer capable of handling the position? I certainly don't think so.
Is the playcalling different? Yes - and we've had discussions about why that may be, but at the end of the day none of us actually know (or those ones with insider information certainly aren't sharing)
To me the only option left is his knee - either it's not back fully, the brace is a problem, or he's having confidence issues or can't adjust to a decreased mobility, etc.
So if it's his knee, why wouldn't we let him sit until he's better and actually ready and let the guy that doesn't currently have any health issues run the team for a few games? It would seem to make sense to me.
The natural counter argument to that (aside from the **** storm it would create via robert, his father, and the fans) is that it would beneficial to him long term to work through it. As I originally said, if that's the motivation then so be it; the people in charge clearly know more about it than I do.
Not that it matters, it'll never happen. We sink or swim with Robert. As long as he's on the team that'll never change. He wont allow, and neither will the bulk of the fans.
In a rational word there should be absolutely no problem with saying Robert needs to sit until he's 100% back, that cousins playing a game or two - no matter how well he plays - would never change the fact that this is Robert's team. But we don't live in a rational world.
