2026 Commanders Training Camp

Watching Josh Taylors videos, he's a fan, but really detailed, reminds me some of how I used to do my camp recaps when I'd go, he actually is better. Some of his thoughts.

A. Luke the #2 Wr in camp. That contradicts JP. Luke is the starter right now in camp at slot, Antoinio mostly playing with the 2s.

B. Defense looks good, exotic blitzes, pressure coming from everywhere

C. Jayden looks super sharp and locked in

D. O line been up and down, struggiling selling play action, defense constantly blowing up their play action

E. A ton of motion on offense

F. Not down on Lane but he among others mentions the drops, and he's playing with the 2's.

G. Styles looks great. Luvu looks like he's good his mojo back.

H. Reaves and Cross mostly playing with the 1's at safety, sometimes Harris. Another reporter maybe its Tischler was saying that Quan doesn't look hot

I. Feels like FS is an obvious hole - Wrs seem to be carving up right-middle whereever the FS is

J. Jonthan Joseph looks sharp and the mosat fluid of the defenders dropping into coverage

K. Charles Omenihyo (probably botching his spelling) looks really good.

L. the other QVs including Mariota really struggiling

M. WRs look OK but think they can use Diggs

N. Jayden loves throwing to TEs -- looking for them on plays

0. Good-Jones struggiling with snaps
I hadn't heard that Mariota was strugglling, hate seeing this.

It comes at little shock that FS may be an issue and that Quan is struggling. I have held that position as a concern going into the draft

Live that Jonathan Joseph looks good in dripping back

Jayden working with lots of motions, keeping his eyes down field, controlling the plays and dealing with a legit active and agressive D all make Jayden a better QB!!!

I don't think they believe Allegretti's injury is serious or that they have any intention of starting Good-Jones (I'm not sure he will even be on the roster when the dust settles). As mentioned, Allegretti has been one of the most durable OL in the NFL over the course of his career. I do think we can agree that not having anyone other than a rookie C as a viable backup (and is he really a viable backup?) looks bad after you let your previous starter walk to show what good guys you are.

As a recovering homer, I feel my role is to remind everyone that massive change (like replacing both coordinators with inexperienced first timers in the middle of your franchise QBs first contract) doesn't necessarily guarantee improvement and success. I hope it does, but Quinn has put his HCing career on the line with those decisions, and AP has rubber stamped those moves. I think Quinn has 2 seasons to prove the moves were great ones. If it doesn't work out, he is done as a HC.
Agree, hate that they believe Good-Jones would be a good backups. They botched both the Biadasz release and bringing in competition for Allegretti

Gulbin could become that good backups and eventual starter but in a perfect world he probably needs a year and especially at full camp under his belt

Just listening to everything, the vibe I get:

A. Jayden is locked in and looks sharp

B. Luke has been the 2nd best WR #2, the Finlay podcast disagrees, they are the outlier on this. Mitch Tishler seems to think this is the camp of Dyami but I don't really hear anyone else echo that so I don't know

C. Anotnio is expected to be #2 but isn't yet

D. Defense is Flores style -- aggressive and it looks sharp. And Styles and Luvu in particular look like versatile weapons in it.

E. Safeties including Cross are more box safeties than coverage, Cross though used all over the place in the flat, blitzes, etc

F. Reaves winning the #2 safety spot?

G. Blough's system full of motion and trick plays including Luke throwing the ball some. I know in theory everyone loves that but lol when they don't work in games they get trashed.

H. O line doesn't look that hot all the time -- most brush it off, but it up enough for it to be on my radar

I. A lot of action in the flat from Wrs-backs and TEs. So a lot of screens. Sounds simple but they make it interesting by their motions where one dude gets it one time and they run the same play but another dude gets it the next time

Yeah I defended the move at the time because I got the impression they'd sign a decent Fa or draft someone highish for that spot. Neither thing happened.

If I had to pick themes why I am not as sold on Peters as some here.

A. He's just as bad so far as Bruce and Ron as to missing on great players in the draft even including having that hallmark bad trade down. Is there any team worse at finding great players for decades than this team?

B. He will leave a hole or two on the roster than can unravel the season that can easily be fixed. I don't expect teams to be strong everywhere but when you can avoid a gaping hole easily, take care of it -- see the Eagles, see the Rams -- its what great teams are good at avoiding.

I am imagining that once Allegretti returns to the lineup, the OL will look significantly better with him making all the calls as well as consistent snaps and exchanges..

This kind of stuff may be another reason the O-line may not look to be 100%, at least yesterday. Down your starting LT / G / C.

I'm with you a bit though skinsinparadise regarding the C position. I generally want to give these guys the benefit of the doubt, but the move with Biadasz lays out a very clear path that it COULD be a disaster..

Listening to people, its part of it as to those guys missing but I get the impression it's beyond that day

Overheard at training camp today:
1) “i bet Jayden’s mom dropped him off at the facility”

2) “todays generation is is involved in every part of their kids lives, they sit in on their job interviews with them”

Both idiotic quotes from the same person.

In the pre-practice presser DQ really talked up Dyami's return to the team this year. Said he is getting a lot of work moving around in the X with Terry. He said he has carry over by working similar concepts in Jacksonville last year which helps.

Also really talked up Reaves as a teammate and his communications especially. Also loves Luvu's clear sharp communications before plays.

Says over the rest of this week and next we should see players moving around more to different positions to get feels for the players and the players getting more reps at different positions

I'm buying the defense hype. We are going to be an absolute wrecking crew by midseason and play with a mean streak under Daronte. Hunting and cracking skulls. Our offense is going to be the wild card for sure this year, but excited to hear about Chig and how well he's doing in camp. And good to see Luke picking up right where he left off before he got injured. He was starting to really excel over the middle. I'm still not happy about the Clemson WR pick, but hopefully he proves us wrong and emerges as a solid #2. Oline seems a bit shaky right now, but that may be due to us finally having some dawgs on defense. Sonny is gonna be a DROY candidate. With all that being said, our schedule to start the year is absolutely brutal so I think that combined with all the new faces on defense is going to lead to a slow start but we are going to be that team NO ONE wants to see by late October and I can see us making a playoff push. I truly believe after one more offseason of plugging up some of the remaining holes on this team, we jump into contender status next season. This season should be a fun one, but there are going to be some growing pains early. I like this team a lot better than the team that made the NFC Champ game 2 seasons ago so I guess anything is possible this season., especially with Jayden ;) The NFL as a whole is going to be a gauntlet for everyone because I can only see 2 teams right now that are going to be cellar dwellars and that's the Cards and Dolphins. Every other team it wouldn't surprise me to see them make a jump to the playoffs. Well, maybe the Raiders too haha.

At the end of the day, just gotta stay healthy.

Standing and KP were just gushing about Luke on the radio. Be nice if some of these early preseason stories bore fruit
Yeah that seems to have really been coming out over the past 24-48 hours which is great and what so many of us hoped to see!

I mean, we can only hope it's not a sign that the others aren't doing that well making I'm just look like the best of rest after Terry

Is it me, or does Luke appear to have short arms? Just a general observation from my eye test, it may have no merit.

At FS, is Reaves playing ahead of Harris?
