Nauseating, I even saw them higher than Washington in a major media power ranking. And Voice_of_Reason's guy Bram's been pumping them up all off season, about how the Giants are going to be tough and the division is now hard, but he took the cake for me in the podcast with Keim yesterday with his rap that Dallas is the team to beat in the divison now.

I’m not entirely sure Bram’s wrong that the division is harder, especially since the Giants got a professional coach and seem like they aren’t being stupid.

Dallas being the team to beat? That was a bit of a stretch if you ask me.

I have said the same thing. However, they can DO anything they want to. Nothing prohibiting them from signing him for more than he's probably worth (all good players in free agency are signed for more than they are worth btw) and then redoing McLaurin's deal so his nose isn't out of joint. I don't know that he's as good as he thinks he is, but he'd immediately be the 2nd best WR on our roster.

Yeah, maybe.

I’ll be honest, the longer this lasts and literally nobody signs him, I’m wondering if the league just knows something about him, either personality or play wise, the fans just don’t know.

It’s REALLY odd for a player of his supposed talent to be unsigned after the draft with basically maybe one prospect.

I don’t know what that thing could be, but there just has to be more to this than meets the eye.

The division got harder just by adding Harbaugh, one of the best coaches in the business, and the Giants do have some talent. Philly is the team to beat until proven otherwise, but Dallas is rarely easy for us.

The mindset has to be that the NFC East is the toughest division in football. It will not be easy.

BTW, the schedule will be released in 2 weeks. We were the worst prime time team ever but luckily we had a couple of exciting showings late and we've had a solid off-season so far. Definitely won't get nearly as many as last year but we might get more than I thought we would for most of the season last year. We were so bad that I felt like it would take 2 great seasons from us for them to trust us with a bunch of prime time games again.

One good thing about us is that we do play in the Northeast and in the glamor division. I think those 3 teams may get a lot of prime time games so we may get some strictly due to them. We also have a home game in London this year. I'd rather get that out of the way early this year. I know that the season kicks off in Seattle on a Wednesday this year and then SF plays the Rams in another country the next night

Bram could be right but I hate hearing the dude who announces this team's games buying into the Giants hype, its nauseating enough to hear from the national media about don't be surprised to see them in the playoffs. Heck even McShay now getting into the hype saying bet on the over with Giants who are at 7.5 games with Vegas.

The Giants definitely have surpassed Washington as the cool kids on the block in that division.

Yeah I want to feel some urgency.

That's what bothered me about Quinn's explanation of how a WR by committee can work. At a minimum, it felt like rationalization of how what they have can work. And I get some think Dan was just spinning things. For starters, Quinn is fairly honest. But more on point not having urgency about WR, is on brand for this regime so lol when Quinn plays down the need, they have the track record to believe them on it.

I do like a lot the Antonio Williams pick. I was watching Steve Smith talk about the picks he liked, he highlight Antonio in the third. I was much bigger fan of his compared to other dudes taken in this range, speaking of which Smith didn't like the Malachai pick from the Giants, he was mixed on it, mixed on the player, saying he's inconsistent, and has things to work on, takes plays off, etc.

Its weird to say for a dude picked 71, but I do think Antonio raises the floor of that WR room.

Why do we care what the media thinks about these teams?

I’ve never really understood it. Power rankings are done for something to talk about, engagement, that have no real value.

The Giants got better. Zero question.

Our defense got better. Zero question.

The Cowboys look like they got better.

The Eagles re-load and re-tool and even when they look worse wind up doing pretty well.

It is what it is. The games tell the story, not the media. (The mobile app just changed my font to italics and I can’t change it back. So enjoy!😆)

Giants will challenge for the division within 3 years. I think Harbaugh is that good a coach. The problem for Dallas (my opinion) is that Dak Prescott, while a very good regular season QB, just seems to fold when things get real. We've seen it over and over, and now he is entering the downhill portion of his career where his skills will diminish (especially his mobility). I think they have a very short window and will then have to start over. Philly has obviously been the top dog for awhile now and Roseman seems to be very skilled in finding ways to manipulate the roster to keep extending their window. I think the NFC East is entering a period where it will be more competitive than it's been in awhile with all 4 teams having some significant strengths.

I hear folks point to 2024 a lot as evidence that because Jayden Daniels is our QB, it's no issue if we trot guys like Dyami Brown and Burks out there. I think that is bad logic. First of all, the first year of a creative offense and a very talented and mobile QB is always going to take opponents by surprise. We saw this with RG3 and Kyle Shanahan previously. Having a very productive year in that kind of setting means almost nothing long-term.

What we saw just a season later is Jayden not trusting the scrubs we were trotting out there at WR. Daniels was more hesitant, held onto the ball longer, and subsequently got injured multiple times. Teams quickly honed in on the fact that our WRs were not particularly dangerous and stacked the box and came after Jayden.

Having legit weapons around Daniels is important. We need guys he trusts to get open consistently, and to be where they are supposed to be when they are supposed to be there. That will allow JD to be the best version of himself he can be.

Of course the downside of signing an aging vet as a one year stopgap player is that you create two holes the following season. You lose the vet to old age and the developmental player you had to cut (or at a minimum PS and gave no game reps to.) Obviously the best outcome would for us to find a true quality WR worthy of an extended contract. Kicking this roster can down the road year after year is not for the weak of heart

Exactly. Thank goodness they showed enough urgency to select a WR in the 3rd. I agree that it feels like Williams was an upgrade.

When they first read the announcement of the William pick, I wasn't enamored because it meant 3 years, 3 slot type WR's. I liked Fields more because of his size and what he brings to the group.

Today I am more settled with Williams but very disappointed if their work is done at WR unless Aiyuk is freed
