(New Poll) The Washington Commanders Brand 2.0: Beer Drinkers and Hail Raisers

How do you feel about the Commanders Brand 2.0?

  • Vastly improved, if this is THE brand moving forward I’m satisfied.

  • I like the direction, but I still feel more to do. I will/have specified in thread.

  • I don’t like this new direction. I didn’t like the old either. They can’t make this work for me.

I bought this just now. It will go good with my bazillion Redskins jerseys.View attachment 14670

The hat and the helmet show how context is everything with this type of stuff. I did not like that spear logo when I saw it on the sweatshirt…at all. I like it a lot more on a hat and on a helmet. I think it fits much better in those contexts.

I also heard while I was driving home…that they could not use the spear alone because of potential trademark conflicts with Florida State. I’m not sure where that came from but I heard it on 106.7 the fan. If true, which it probably is, there is not much more to say about why they couldn’t have a spear by itself.

We’ve known for a long time trademark law matters whether we want it to or not.

Another great thing is that all of our new players will share the exact jersey with our legacy players. There will no longer be a visual break between the old and the new.

I was listening to Mark Clouse on the way home, talking to B Mitch and Finlay, and he kind of hit on something that makes a lot of sense to me. Everyone will look at those jerseys and know that is Washington. Whatever our name might be, we have visual continuity. Even as I was looking at the crest, I kind of got thinking back to medieval heraldry. When you went into battle, they recognized you by your coat of arms… not by your name. Adopting that kind of a mindset with this makes a ton of sense.

I just have to say this:

SHUT THE FUCK UP GRANT AND DANNY YOU TWO-FACED FUCKING HYPOCRITES. YOU TWO ASSHOLES GOT UP ON YOUR FUCKING SOAPBOXES, DEMANDED THE NAME BE CHANGED TO BE ON THE "RIGHT SIDE OF HISTORY", AND NOW YOU CONSTANTLY COMPLAIN ABOUT THE NEW NAME AND UNIFORMS?!

FUCK. ALL. THE. WAY. OFF.

Thank you, drive through.

This is the best part of the new uniforms. It will be a seamless transition to Warriors when the new stadium is built.

There’s no reason to wait for a new stadium, I think people need to take the majority share owner at his word that we aren’t changing the name. Letting this go now and starting the grieving process ASAP will help everyone. We’re stuck with this ass name. No need to hold onto fantasies.

I can take 'em or leave 'em but I don't hate them. I would prefer the spear/feather on the helmet, sans the "W" like they did in the 60's.

Not sure I believe this considering we've already run it with the spear with our 70th anniversary uniforms. I guess there 'could' have been a change where Florida State made a stink after the fact and the trademarks are different now, but I personally don't see why that would be the case... that it's a problem NOW, but it wasn't back then.

It’s been 23 years since we last wore those uniforms/spear helmets. Lots of things are different, including potentially the applicable copyrights and copyright laws involved. Who knows, but that’s a LONG time for things to change. And there’s a lot more money in the sport now, including at the college level. Exponentially more.
