8 wins is better than 5, the Browns equaled our 5. Without have seen the rest of the article because you didn't share it, the impression I got is they are judging how well teams have done this offseason. Starting from a 5 win season, it's going to be an uphill climb to earn positive spins.

They can add a correction saying that although both teams finished 5-12 and have not solved all the problems that led to the teams being 5-12, local fans in Washington are certain that their 5-12 is better than Cleveland's 5-12 because while Cleveland had too many bad players on their roster, Washington had to deal with a lack of good players on their paper-thin depth chart.

I've some chatter from a couple of places about Brandon Coleman being tried out at center. I hope this is not true. It's great that Brandon is that good an athlete that he has so much position flex, but this would be something like the sixth position switch his teams have had him to do since college. Let the poor kid learn a position.

I’m guessing it was more of a cross-training thing vs trying to full on switch him… at least at this point. Going forward, it might depend on how the draft shakes out and what level of competition they bring in for Allegretti. With Paul on a 1 year deal (and not a great run blocker), I’m hoping/guessing Coleman will get the bulk of his snaps at LG this offseason.

This week, the national team trials are taking place in Chula Vista, California, and among the athletes looking to make the USA football roster is a Hall of Famer.

The Associated Press reports that Washington Commanders legend Darrell Green will be one of the players competing in the tryouts

In two years, the Olympics will return to the United States for the Los Angeles Summer Games. And for the first time, American football will be among the sports played. However, it won’t be traditional tackle football and will instead be the debut of flag football as an Olympic sport.

A little attention-seeking though, unless he’s just delusional. I’m sure he’s still very fast in a straight line, especially for his age. But unless I missed it there isn’t a Senior category. Any sufficiently driven and athletic D1 (and lower) player is going to be a better fit. There are established non-NFL flag football studs who nobody even knows who do this at a high level as well.

They ARE adding flag football to the National Senior Games (50+ age group) before that in 2027 though. DG28 should do that, he’d have a much better shot at actually competing instead of just being a headline.

At 66, Darry Green is trying out for the 2028 US Olympic Flag Football Team . . . you read that right, no joke, DG is trying out for the 2028 US Olympic Flag Football Team . . .

Darrell Green, the Hall of Fame cornerback who retired after a 20-year career with Washington in 2002, still wants to compete at the age of 66. And he thinks he can do it, in flag football.

On a weekend when a major flag football event in Los Angeles will feature big-name NFL players, Green will be a couple hours away in Chula Vista, participating in national team trials for USA Football. If he does well, he can earn a roster spot on Team USA at the flag football world championships in Germany this summer.

“I’m going to give it my best and I’ll walk away with my head up, either way,” Green said.

Callie Brownson, senior director of high performance and national teams for USA Football, says Green will be given a legitimate chance like all the others who qualified for the tryouts.

“Darrell qualified through our digital combine. He’s later in his career than the other trials participants, but his testing results were impressive,” Brownson told the Associated Press. “Our coaches and staff felt he deserved a closer look. . . . He’s a rare athlete who has stayed in shape and is ready to compete this week.”

Certainly would get me to watch the game . . . what to you all think?

I understand his point and I think he’s correct about the team bouncing back.

At the same time, he’s also essentially saying it’s idiotic for people to not put Daniels in the same category of Burrows, Lamar and Mahomes… which is where he kind of loses me. Not that I think Daniels doesn’t belong in terms of his talent, just that he needs to prove it (over a larger sample size).

And of course, there are a lot of other factors in the mix - multiple injuries for Daniels, having to fix a terrible D, new O and D coordinators/scheme. Lot of things broke our way in ‘24 as well.

As of now, my guess/prediction is that this season goes how we expected last year’s to go - a step back record-wise from ‘24 (but still challenging for the playoffs), but probably a better team overall.

Just ask the NFL commentators that have fallen in love with Drake Maye to the point they are comparing him to Brady in New England.

Where are the critics that point to the #27 ranked schedule? And a division stacked with 4 easy wins against the Jets and Dolphins right off the bat?

What I saw in the Super Bowl was a young quarterback that was not able to leverage his defense and coaches into favorable tilt of the chessboard and was largely unable to be that specific playmaker like an Elway or Mahomes that can put a team on his back, etc.

I think what it boils down to is 'recent' disease. Whichever player has looked the sexiest in the most recent look is going to be complimented to the heavens and the others are going to be marked with flaws or potential roadblocks in their development.

Watch. If Maye and the Patriots are 9-8 next season or 10-7 and lose in the wildcard round and let's say Caleb Williams takes the Bears to the NFC Title Game, then all the commotion will be about Caleb with his talent rising above the other 2024 quarterbacks to achieve his destiny

That totally applies to the Bengals. Their defense was as bad as ours and probably got worse in free agency, losing Hendrickson. Likewise, Burrow has had three seasons where he missed 6 or more games. The Bengals won one more game than we did last year with Chase and Higgins playing most of the year. Yet, their win total in Vegas is 9.5. It feeds the fact that we are chronically underrated. I don't think Sheehan is putting Daniels at the Burrow/Mahomes/Jackson level yet, but the narrative is these teams will all be fine because they'll be healthy, yet we are continually put in the bottom of the league, even after doing a ton to sure up the defensive side of the ball.

The logic and reasoning doesn't make sense to me. It's like the media has completely ignored how beaten up we were all year--but have that excuse lined up for every other team that lost their QB.

It wasn't just the Super Bowl--he was atrocious all playoffs.

Here's another hot take that I am sure will be unpopular: as incomplete as our receivers, including TEs, are, NEs are worse. They signed Doubs to be their #1 target, despite never having 60 rec. or 750 yards in a season--and I say that having wanted Doubs here, pretty badly. Even Van Jefferson has an 800 yard season. I do like Boutte as a deep threat, but the rest of their receiving corps is really over rated. McLaurin is better than any receiver on either team, right now. Now, if the Pats get AJ Brown, different story. We also went a lot younger in our receiver corps, going with Burks and Dyami Brown rather than Robbie Choosen and Chris Moore. And for the record, no, Brown isn't anything special, he's barely a JAG. But as the 6th receiver, he's fine.

Yeah, I think Robbie Chosen and Chris Moore were practice squad/waiver guys picked up to fill a void, I don't think Peters ever seriously thought about bringing them back in 2026.

Doubs is a great #2 in my mind but he's not a guy that a top of the line corner can't cover down the field or a guy that DCs spend all night trying to scheme for.

You look at the NFL landscape and see the numbers that JSA put up or guys like Nakua and Lamb in their best year(s) and that is what you are looking for to pay top of heap money to a FA or in a trade.
