Does Chig Okonkwo having a 6.47 RAS score mean AP won't take signing him seriously?
It didn't seem to bother Peters that Amik Robertson had one of the lowest PFF scores of all NFL corners in 2025.

So, I think the answer is no.

Peters and Jones/Quinn have their own ideas.

The secondary may be less scary if there is a pass rush.

I still believe both Amos and Sainristil have potential to be at least good. If the Detroit corner is a good nickel (PFF stuff is scary) then our DBs are at least okay. Safety is a bit of a question mark. I suspect Quan is okay if he has a gray beard to remind him where to be and what his responsibilities are. Otherwise, he's an out of position knucklehead. Harris seemed okay, but he was old and injured last year so...

I think our secondary has the skills to be good, but that our system and coaching last year just sucked. I may be delusional, but I'm OK with that :)

Half a team so far. We have not added a single offensive weapon and stand to possibly lose one if our best ones not named Jayden from 2025.
The defense should be much improved. The secondary is scary. But an improved front should help.

The offense needs juice. ASAP. Especially as it has a lot more questions coaching staff wise.
BPA is an interesting concept, because you can do BPA and target positions of need at the same time with trades; it really depends on how good your board is and how good your understanding of others is. The "risk-free" scenario though is having a very detailed board that can track the remaining players with your associated priorities really accurately in real-time. So you know that there are X LBs available and Y spots until your trade-back spot comes, and then you know that it won't be all LBs... statistically this many LBs would be taken at max.. .etc etc.

Anyway, what I'm driving at is after seeing this FA period roll the way it has?

- My guess is they still go hard for a TE in this FA. Although starting to wonder if the music stops and they don't get an upgrade there. I think it won't be for lack of trying.
- I could see them looking at BPA and saying that the offensive weapons they want, at the positions they want, I could kind of seeing them saying maybe they need a WR and a RB or a TE, and basically saying they'd be better off with 2 picks rather than 1. There may be players (Love, Downs) who could get a trade back built depending on how things roll hype-wise (and maybe justified) from now until the draft. I could see them doing that. I could also see them believing that Aiyuk + Love is enough of a delta combined with everything else they've done.

One thing I want to emphasize too:
- I believe their OL was not used well last year. I think DQ and AP feel that way, and I agree. I think they invested heavily in OL finally over the last 2 years - and we didn't see the fruits of that investment very well in Kliff's scheme. So I think that the "talent" they had was not shown in Kliff's scheme. That's not to say Kliff did horribly, it's just that he didn't use his personnel the way maybe they thought could be optimal. So they may in fact feel that we haven't seen what even 2025's group was capable of as a result. Not saying anyone thinks we shouldn't improve there, but I think the D desperately needed talent infusion and got it. The O should get some too. I don't think it was comparable though - it was code-red on the defense. Red Alert. Defcon-1.

What's really good to see though is these acquisitions I can see the outlines of a trend as to what Jones is looking for on defense and it looks like we are going to have a versatile unit with guys that can switch out and play X or Y position based on down and distance and keep offenses off balance.

Going together with that is the serious upgrade in athleticism. Chenal and Chaisson are super athletic and Oweh is very quick off the ball.

We just didn't have players with this kind of capability really at all in the 2020's.

On defense it's been a desert this decade to this point.

Any positives have been on the other side of the ball.

Getting the defensive players may cause some to stress out about WR and RB, but the truth is that a good defense is what really got Drake Maye to the Super Bowl not his passing arm.

Without having to score 30 points to win games is going to allow Daniels to grow further and avoid having to put himself at risk so often to try and right the balance with his 'Superman' plays in the open field where he took some pretty bad whacks last season.

Hope we now bring in a solid veteran receiver and go after Tate in the draft to be Terry's replacement in 2027.

And teams with shitty QBs have won Super Bowls but that doesn’t argue not to worry about the QB position ;)

When we HAVE a great defense make that argument. Right now we’ve added some speed and youth and that’s great. But the D hasn’t played a down for our inexperienced new DC.

So yeah, we need to get Jayden some weapons and it can’t wait.

One thing we learned from 2025 is that Jayden holding onto the ball because we have no offensive weapons equals Jayden being hurt and unavailable. And that means we go nowhere. Adam Peters himself said that the best protection for Jayden is surrounding him with better weapons. So they need to do that.

A bit more than half.

The offense has Daniels, Tunsil and Cosmi as pro bowl caliber players and Terry is solid.

I don't think anyone on defense to end the year came within reach of these players in terms of impact for the team.

What I see happening now is we bring in a veteran receiver (Diggs, Allen, etc.) and then go into the draft and take Tate at #7 and a running back in Round 3, a place good teams like the Rams and others seem to find them.

Under the cap we do need Peters to find some value veterans that can come in and fill some gaps, I think the challenge is to find guys that have had a good NFL career obviously but ones that still have the fire to play and compete and guys that have not suffered recent severe injury isssues.

It is that last point that really concerned me last year. A number of those guys came to the team with an injury history as long as your arm.

The context of his post was that Peters is now ‘building a team’ - it wasn’t about who we already have. And so far in free agency he hasn’t done a thing to continue building on offense. Hopefully it’s coming.

Of all of the upgrades, Robertson bothers me the most. I don't like that the Eagles got Woolen. Robertson is one of these guys who doesn't exactly feel like an upgrade.

Again, though - as many have said - the pass rush looks to be definitely improved. Pieces are in place there to see a step forward. That improves all of the defense, bar none. Just ask Will Allen and Will Pederson

Again, though we can't fill out the roster with $100M players obviously, so Peters is going to probably shift after getting a WR of some note to signing veterans who are going to come in one or two year deals for relatively low guarantees to fill spots.

And on offense I see that happening at WR3, LG, C and perhaps TE.

I do think a good draft strategy is to go through free agency and take the taste of the market in terms of where the talent is and then go into the draft with the idea that the two phases of the offseason work together to put together a 53 man team.

I am not advocating taking a WR at #7 who is rated as the #25 prospect.

But if one player is a 9.2 and another is 9.0 and you have stacked talent at the first position and a glaring hole at the second for an impact player, I tend to think you take the second guy and create the most complete team.

lmao I’m sorry this is sort of off topic, but since we’ve been talking about the Crosby trade in here tonight, here’s our old buddy JLC melting down after having been fired off the Ravens beat

Is this real? He’s a member of the media Super unprofessional. Not a good look for someone that ever wants to get hired again.

Also sort of a sneaky reason why they might not go edge early in the draft, its often a slow developing spot. Ditto LB. Both edges they signed have gotten better over time.

In a must win season, I suspect they prefer to draft someone at 7 who can hit the ground running.

I don’t know. Bailey seems like a line up and beat the guy in from of you edge, more so than Oweh and Chaisson seem more scheme dependent.

And imagine having Reese, Chenal and Magee as our LB’s. Reese and Chenal would be a fearsome duo blitzing out of a Flores type scheme.

I wouldn’t take any of the other edges high, especially not now.

The defense should be much improved. The secondary is scary. But an improved front should help.

I agree with this. I guess we can’t afford to do everything, but I’d be happier with Amik Robertson as a depth signing. If Amos goes down, our corners will all be 5’2”.

I understand that people say the Flores scheme didn’t require great CB’s in Minnesota. Well, I need to see that to believe it. Donte Jones isn’t Flores, and I want to see the scheme work elsewhere before I just assume my team doesn’t need great secondary play.

It all depends upon how highly Jones values Sainristil on the outside.

I think Robertson as the #3 corner in the slot is an OK acquisition and he does produce turnovers.

I also think Trey Amos may very well turn out to be the best pick we made in 2025 and in my mind looks like a starter here for some time to come.

Would I have preferred Watson at CB and make Sainsristil prove it? Yes, but since we didn't show any interest and the defensive backfield is Jones' forte as a coach one would assume that Watson didn't fit in with what Jones wants to do.

Does Chig Okonkwo having a 6.47 RAS score mean AP won't take signing him seriously?

He’s athletic, he’s just short. I think RAS is something that naturally aligns with the athleticism and traits we look for, but I don’t think we’re actually making decisions based on it.

It’s also very imperfect because they don’t penalize for missing agility measurables, for instance. So some 9.99 RAS players are different than others, they just formulate with whatever they have record of.

I don't know Jared Verse came into the NFL with the Rams and immediately made the defense a lot better.

I never did like La Canfora, he looks to get even with people using his media platform. Big ego.

JLC going hard in the paint on this story:

Just what I have been saying. Hendrickson at 31 is a gamble but a fairly decent one for 2026 for a team that looks to be going all out to try and advance in the playoffs and go to the Super Bowl.

Do I have any confidence that Trey is going to be a top player again at age 33 or 34 down the road? No.

That's one reason giving him $100M plus at this point to me for a rebuilding team like Washington was a non-starter.
