With Armstrong coming back its safe to say we definitely upgraded the defensive line today......I don't think many realize how much it hurt losing Armstrong early in the season

We had so many injuries, I think we forget some players existed...

Would you trade back from 7 to 23 for a 2nd and 3rd this year? That’s the kind of value you’re proposing, unless BTJ is worth more after a down year with half his contract tolled. I just don’t see it. You need to decide in 10 months whether to exercise his 5th year option or not and meanwhile, Liam Coen doesn’t want him.

Non-stud players who aren’t wanted by their current team just don’t get moved for premium capital like that. It would be an insane trade, I can’t think of an equivalent. It would be arrogant to give the Jags a total do-over on that pick imo, they’d be gaining value by trading away a player who disappoints them.

I would care that our pro-scouts like him, and there is a viable explanation for his production dip. In addition, I'd probably float a larger return for our pick and see how desperate they were.

But in the end, if we checked those boxes, yes, I'd probably do the deal I pitched.

Would love to see the contract structure for Oweh. If they added void years like they did with Tunsil the cap ramifications are probably pretty low this year. Gotta figure we still have close to 50 million to play with.

Yep. We went from the number 6 run defense to dead last when he got hurt.

We're sitting here twiddling our thumbs while over at the park they're answering a phone bank of calls, dealing with mulitple agents, readjusting contract language, back-n-forth about the value, guarantees, etc.

He's 6'2 and 317. I think that works for Jones defense if he is running the flexible system that Flores ran in Minnesota.

For me I think it comes down to leverage inside. Payne really doesn't have the low center of gravity and anchor in the behind to play beside two DEs in a 3-4, and to be honest you don't pay $27M to put him inside at NT for 50 snaps a game.

Payne's best year was his contract year when his ability to work off blocks and make tackles for loss and penetrate were his best assets so I see him as a traditional DT and then a DE at times on the outside.

I like Downs. I'd be okay with this, especially since it is looking more and more likely that Styles and three edge rushers will all be gone by #7.

I don’t want him either. But not because he’s a distressed asset. We just already committed $25m a year and I’m not sure about scheme fit.

Edges can be productive into their mid 30’s and I don’t think a core muscle injury means anything long term. If we ran a traditional 4-3 I’d be all over it. And I could still talk myself into it. I’d just rather see a WR, TE, etc

But are the risks credible. I remember Jonathan Allen's medical made him drop from a top 5 pick to us at #17 and he is still in the NFL at age 32. The medicals said his shoulders were so bad he was a player not likely to play a full career in the NFL.

His best years here were better than a lot of players taken ahead of him.
