Official Game Thread - Week 9 - Seahawks @ Commanders

A lot of that is because we made moves at the position BEFORE Terry decided to not honor the contract he signed.

Agree on this. But for Noah alone they should have had a legit backup. Actually more on point, they should not have counted on Noah at best to being the backup not the starter. He's never healthy.

You make your own luck. And many of us (not necessarily on this site) KNEW this was the risk of drafting a frail QB. The fact Maye is now blooming into a potential MVP makes it even more disgusting.

I liked both QBs, had a slight preference for Maye.

But I'll say this though. I think oddly NE did a better job for Maye this year then this team did for Daniels. Add to that NE has if I recall the easiest schedule in NFL history and Washington has one of the toughest coupled with insane number of injuries -- the football gods are smiling much more on Maye this year than Daniels.

I do think some of Daniels injuries -- 2 of the 3 is somewhat on this regime, maybe all 3. Conerly couldn't block the GB D lineman which led to injury #1. And their lack of Wrs have alowed teams to tee off on Jayden while Jayden oftens wants to make up for no one being open

I know everyone has their opinion on Daniels at this point, but I wanted to get in on the fun anyway.

The kid is a stud. An ice-cold, fearless competitor with amazing God-given talents, who works his tail off to constantly get better, and loves the game that he plays. We are lucky to have him.

I'm not sure if his frame had anything to do with his injuries. A helmet to the knee like he had, getting twisted down in the Dallas game like he was, and getting pulled down on his arm like last night would have injured most quarterbacks. I think that for the most part, he does a decent job of protecting himself, but there are times that you need to go for it, and he recognizes those moments.

Who were his WR's last night? Going in, it was probably going to be McCaffrey (KR), Lane (PR), and Deebo, who's not a downfield guy. So Luke gets hurt on PLAY ONE, and there goes that. He had NO ONE to throw to. Hasn't had Ekeler out of the backfield since week 2. He's had Terry for 2 games. He had Deebo for 2 games. Brown for 1. It's incredible. With Deebo your only threat on the field, that's no contest for the defense. Shut him down and it's easy sledding.

Get Jayden healthy. Get him protected. Get him healthy weapons. And get him at least a competent defense.

I love the kid. I can't wait to see where he can take us.

Jayden was blooming into an MVP candidate last year too. The league is humbling. Maye would likely be hurt and turned it over 15 times with this roster/schedule and you know it.

Brian Mitchell in the Command Center Postgame Live went on a bit of a rant last night.

To me he seemed to be taking a not so subtle shot at unnamed others of being against the drafting of Jayden Daniels because of his skin color. I’ve listened to it twice and I hope I’ve taken that wrong. If not, it’s a weird flex to express on the team’s official site. Perhaps he was speaking on the difference in body types between Daniels and Maye but it didn’t seem like that to me.

Jayden wasnt playing anywhere near as well as Maye is this season. What JD gives us is a great passer that is also a dangerous running weapon. The problem is with his build running puts him at risk far to much. But Maye is no slouch with his feet either. His arm is lightyears better than Daniels. And he just an overall bigger dude.

I dont know man. Diggs, Boutte and Demario Douglas are not really striking fear in anyone's defense without Maye throwing them the ball.

Disingenuous to say the least. Jayden literally carried this band of scrubs on his back. Maye is playing the softest schedule in the history of football with a legitimate defense. It’s not even close to the same.

That’s not to discredit Maye. You can only play who they put on the schedule and he’s playing well, no doubt. But apples to oranges.

I got the same impression.

I mean.... realistically, Mariota is one of the better backups in the NFL. That wouldn't be in the top 10 of things I'd be worried about.
You’re missing the point. I’m worried about JDs inability to be available. Mariota is indeed one of the better backups in the NFL, but at the current rate of injury with JD we are going to need something better than that.

These weapons are below average at best, we let Dyami Brown and OZ walk, brought in what most folks thought was an aging Deebo, and held serve with McCaffrey and Noah Brown…

For all the Terry talk, whether you like him or not, think we should have paid him whatever, we needed to get younger and more dynamic at the skill positions. We didn’t, we got worse, and now with injuries we’re bad.

There’s not a quality weapon on the offense right now… That’s an Adam Peters problem.

I watched that and him referecing radio hosts made it clear to me he was referring to Grant Paulsen.

Grant while likes Jayden has been obnoxious how how much he loves Drake Maye this season and keeps touting him nonstop.

Look, i liked Maye a hair over Jayden in that draft, too. But loved both. And once they took Jayden, i was all in for him. i have zero rooting interest for Maye.

But Grant keeps going on and on about Maye. lol, I know like some of us he preferred Maye before that draft. But now he feels compellled to take a victory lap about it as if the verdict is in -- and IMO the verdict isn't in yet. But lol, Grant keeps bringing attention to himself talking up Maye. So am guessing that's who Mitchell is referring to

Well Nick Foles is available.

I sincerely hope you’re right. It struck me as deeper than just that.. And what did he mean by “people trying to throw a little salt in the game. I’ve been around here a long time, I’ve played when they were doing the same things”?

Still a strange flex on that platform.

I sure hope that's incorrect. I was on board with Maye over him like many of us, only because of he is bigger more solid to withstand hits. It is the RG3 hangover still in my bloodstream.

So we should have paid TM 38M a year? Dude has done zilch this year. He should have been forced to play out his contract that he had already agreed to.

It might be. But at least on the surface, Grant's touting of Maye has caught my attention multiple times this season. I've text'd back and forth with a friend of mine who isn't the biggest Grant fan talking about how over the top he's been with the Maye love.

But I'll say in Grant's defense he does like Jayden judging by my listens of his show. But Grant comes off like he really really really wants to say hey I loved Maye, you fans gave me a hard time for it and said I was wrong to want him at #2, but now i am vindicated and I'll tell you over and over and over again how good Maye is. Grant isn't going as far as saying they should have taken Maye. But he's more or less implying it with every post on Maye.
