BGO Blind Pig: Washington Commanders Prevail - next up - Philadelphia!

I laughed. I cried. It was much better than Pardon the Interuption. :p

Loved the over all optimism about beating Philly. That takes guts, strength and conditioning. ;)

Don't know how y'all got there cause I can't see it but we'll be pulling for the Redskins on Sunday.

Look at all NFC East games every season. At least a 3rd of them are 'upsets'. It's not that far of a leap brother.

The 264 yards we put up against Philly this year was the lowest offensive output of the season. We were super banged up as well that night, and played on a short week where we had just come off the physical heartbreaker against Pittsburgh. Philly caught us in the perfect spot that night.

Despite all of that, Quinn had an opportunity to go for a field goal to take the lead down 12-10 with five odd minutes or so to go in fourth quarter. Instead, we inexplicably went for it on fourth and short (I say inexplicably because we had an opportunity to take the lead in a game where we were barely able to move the ball up until that point in the game). We know the rest of the story - we get stopped, the momentum totally swings, and Barkley finally breaks off a huge run to seal it.

The point I am trying to get at is that the Thursday nighter was there for the taking, despite being very ineffective offensively. On top of that, given our team's health that night, we really had no business competing, but we did. Granted, Philly's own woes on Special Teams that night helped, but we fought.

I think we will be motivated to stop these clowns from celebrating the clinching of a division title on our home field, a place we have played very well at this season - the best in a very long time.

I am changing my Blind Pig prediction. We take these guys in OT and win on a Tress Way game winning field goal, because the rest of our kickers are having babies hatch. ;)

Washington 23
Philly 20

I will streak on a Mexican beach if it happens.

I'd like to hear his reasoning for how they are the better team. Because position by position I really can't think of any area other than possibly QB where they could be better than the eagles.

Maybe linebacker? The eagles clearly have the better RB, better OL, better receivers, better DL, better DBs. Kicker,

Oh, we might have the better punter.

But we still have a decent chance to win.

I like the positivity I just think some things are better left unsaid to reporters, beyond the fact it’s just a stupid thing to say in year 1 of a rebuild.

I told my wife we needed to strengthen our condition in order to win this week, so she went out and bought some shampoo with stronger conditioner...............go figure.

When we drafted Sinnot, I figured he’d either take starting reps (or even the starting role) from Ertz at some point later in the season, or he’d fill in when Ertz inevitably missed time with an injury. Well, here we are, and I’m excited to see him get his chance.

With that said, and I know this sounds kind of crazy, there’s a part of me that wonders if we elevate Cole Turner to the starting role. His blocking looked much better this preseason, he’s a bit more dynamic than Bates as a pass catcher, he’s more experienced than Sinnot, and it allows Bates/Sinnot to stick to the roles they’re accustomed to. I also wouldn’t think Jackson is ready having just signed.

Too many drops by Turner for me to really trust him though, and that may be how the staff sees it as well. Going to be interesting to see what they do there, and it’s going to be an important decision given how Ertz has served as Daniels’ security blanket.

I can't see it. For one thing, Turner has never really flashed in season, but more importantly if they thought he was the better player I think he would have been on the roster already.

Yeah, I certainly doubt it happens, but I do think it’s possible it mirrors the Chris Rodriguez situation - a (potentially) better fill-in for the number one, even if he’s behind 2 guys that fit the #2 and #3 roles better.

I'm not looking forward to Sunday's game
Finally the scary emoticon. I waffled from never using these emoticons to over-using.

I am looking forward to it as a great measuring stick. I hope the team is too. They should do their best and let the cards fall where they may. They can win this, but it's going to take some really good coaching and maybe a little luck too. It is definitely winnable though. The Eagles have a great record but have not been a juggernaut.

Measuring stick? There have been several of those this year and we didn't pass a single one.

I tend to agree that they haven't passed their main measuring sticks, in terms of winning. Even though "good looking losses" are still losses, they can and should give you the feeling you can get the W. I have personally been one of the critics of this team for that exact reason; actually the game that soured me the most was the Cowboys game because that was one they "should have" won even as a divisional opponent, in my opinion.

The question is, can they get over the hump?

The last Eagles game, where they again failed to get over the bar, they had a shot deep into the fourth quarter, and in my opinion one of the main facets that sunk them was predictability on offense.

Against the Titans, we saw Kliff bring out multi-TE sets many times, I think for the first (and only) time this year. I don't think I saw many (any?) against NOS. I am hoping to see it again this week. More than one particular thing, I just want some unpredictability. I am hoping that the team is ready.

However they do it, yes - I do look at this game as a measuring stick. Love for them to get the W. However, the best teams, the best people - they almost always learn more from their losses than their wins. Let's hope they learned!
