Wade Watch (Phillips FIRED!)

ESPN confirms. Wade is out, Garrett in.

Thats too bad...I was hoping it would get worse.

Not to worry Mike. The GM is still in place and he ain't leavin'. :)

By the way, if the Chargers flame out and fire Norv, is there any chance Jerruh hires Norv? Can we get a petition together for that?

say...you can be nasty!!!!!!!!....:claps:

I knew Wade would never make it the way things have been going. Jones just doesn't have the temperament to tolerate abject failure, and really, why should he? Unfortunate for Garrett that he has to take over under these circumstances (although many would rightly argue he owns the failure as much as Wade did). On the bright side, if Garrett can go .500 the rest of the way, he'll look like a miracle worker.

To be honest, after watching the offense in Dallas for the last couple of years and listening to Garrett interviews, I don't things will get better. He seems incapable of seeing what is working for him when his team is on the field and his adjustments always appear to move away from the very things he should be moving towards.

I'm not saying he won't do better with this roster than Wade did the first 8 games but Jerry hasn't given his coaches a lot to work with (especially on the offensive line and in the secondary) and now that they are 1-7 we are seeing there just isn't much grit to this team.

Garrett was a hot commodity a couple of seasons ago and I think he could thrive in many situations that are unlike what he's in now. At what point will the boss let another Parcells-type come in and run the football side? Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with having him as the GM and defacto football "guru" on his team.

Got a feeling that a general house cleaning will take place during the offseason and the Redskins could get a couple of gems via FA. I know we don't like getting players from a hated rival, but if the opportunity presents itself, you act/react accordingly.

I hope they cut Marion the Barbarian - he's pretty much the only guy on that roster I'd have no problem signing, and he's a natural fit for the downhill running scheme the Shanahans like to employ.

Ok, so how long is it after Wade gets the ax that someone brings up him coming to DC to run our 3-4?

The over/under is currently at 3 minutes. Place your bets.

I WILL admit, it certainly crossed my mind. As a Head Coach, Wade is a pretty decent Defensive Coordinator. ;)

Guys - they fired their coach - they aren't disbanding :) There's no reason to think they're going to have a fire sale on their entire roster.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

I dont want any of those guys here in DC.

BUT

If you forced me to pick up someone it would be Ratliff, Ware or Witten. That is IT!!

:psych: Relax Mike, I was just kidding. :D

That's right. They have enough talent to win the SB, it was only coaching that prevented them from success.

Or their offensive line.

Or Romo.

Possibly their run game.

Their secondary struggled a lot this year, come to think of it.

LBs didn't make a lot of plays either.

You know what, are you sure Jerrah won't start over?

:)

I didn't say that the whole team is up for auction at Elmer's Bayfront. I thought a couple of gems would be possible during the offseason.

Yeah, actually, I'm pretty sure he won't. But time will tell.

interesting. who would you keep an eye on BB?

That would depend on who is available and what cuts will actually occur.

Will a Tashard Choice be released? Sam Hurd? Marcus Spears? Marion Barber? Igor Olshansky?

For a team that was 11-5 last year and is now 1-7, this may be the most glaring lay-down by a roster of players I have ever seen in the NFL.

There are holes on that team but there are also some very good football players.

I guarantee you if Bill Parcells were there this team would not be 1-7.

This is truly a sad day for Redskins Nation. :( Oh well, maybe they'll hire Norv. Now that would be schweet. :)

As for us taking any players that might shake out from their roster, I'm all for it. We have too many holes on our roster and too few draft picks to turn up our noses at any decent players. It makes the bile rise in my throat to admit it, but outside of their OL and parts of their secondary, the CowPukes are one of the most talented teams in the NFL. They're particularly deep at WR and RB and I could see a starter and a few developmental guys being released after the season.

:fingerscrossed: on the Norv thing.

They definitely have a few players i would be interested in, but i don't think Jerrah will blow it up completely. After spending the off season listening to the media proclaim that the Cowboys could go to the SB, and then all season so far listening to the media tell him the Cowboys are way more talented than their record suggests, I think Jerrah hangs on to a lot of his players. But someone like Spears could become available. I'd be interested in someone like that.
