Yeah Boone, when I saw the news about Jimmy G getting released I thought the same thing. Although, he is likely looking for a starting gig still (I assume) and we are not going to be that no matter whether we stick or twist in the draft.
 
Garoppolo is a guy you can't count on, a stiff wind causes him to separate a shoulder.

He has missed entire seasons due to injury. In other cases he goes in off the bench and plays 3-4 games and then goes on IR.

His body simply doesn't hold up.
 
When Carson Wentz is listed as the #4 or #5 best quarterback on the market, you know Act I of free agency at the position is just about over.
 
Whoa. That's a big signing. I realize he's older, but wasn't he one of the NFL's top linebackers last year?

Imagine going from Barton, Jamon and Mayo to Wagner, Luvu, and Jamon(?)
 
On paper, we have a defense that will scare people (big question marks still at corner)
 
Still hope they draft a linebacker too. Hope they can get the kid out of NC State.

I think this is the idea of these short term deals. Keep us afloat while hand-picked draftees receive the benefit of learning while watching for the most part. In two or three years, we will likely look different in a lot of spots, but hopefully will just be able to seamlessly transition and build on whatever potential strides we make in the next season or two.

Like that! Thought he earned a spot with his returns and spot duty at WR. Good depth stop gap.
