I'm wondering how many of these guys are injured vs hurt. If Club Jay is any indication, the team may have had some "hurt" guys missing time simply because Jay or because he wanted to use it as an opportunity to play one of his pets.

I think they drafted Haskins when they did because they liked his arm and accuracy and knew he wouldn't be on the board much longer. Unless you have a legit ready-to-go surefire star as a top 3 pick, QBs are always ‘overdrafted'.

I really don't see what the problem with that pick is?

Folks assume we thought he could start right away but I see no evidence that was the thought process. It's fans who are clamoring for him to get thrown out there and nothing more.

The concern with QBs here is always the same and it has little to do with individual talent. It's what the supporting cast is going to be, and which coaches will be here to develop him and in what type of offense is the QB going to operate in.

When you draft a guy like Haskins the keys to success are going to be patient development of him and building an offense around him the complements his talents.

Bottom line, while we are right to have a lot of concerns over whether this team will manage those things well, I think Haskins arm talent warranted him being a high draft pick and I don't think the team has done anything patently ‘wrong' related to him.

Reasonable. And if they can tailor things to his strengths, I'm ok with him getting on the field this year.

The team created the false expectations for 2019 that ‘we are close'.

Smith wasn't coming back in 2019 and McCoy was simply Gruden's wet dream as a starter.

Keenum has shown when he is surrounded by good talent he can play the part.

But he is not a playmaker on his own.

So, knowing this and knowing Haskins was aways away from starting the Redskins needed to alter their scheme to put less pressure on the qb to come out and make a significant number of chunk plays out of the gate.

Keenum hit a couple against the Eagles to surprise them but that type of big play attack was not sustainable.

Gruden seemed annoyed that Keenum didn't routinely hit the deep balls and make plays with a line collapsing against Chicago.

But that again was not Case's makeup. His performance in Denver in 2018 showed that 2017 was an outlier.

When Colt got out on the field we saw even less.

This is a sub .500 team. I thought it was 7-9 caliber with some breaks.

Bruce pointed to 6-3 last year as proof we were close but our record after Smith went down was 1-6.

With backup qbs on the roster again in 2019 and no Smith how could anyone feed high expectations?

This was a rebuilding year and the executive suite was tone deaf on that.

So, Gruden threw Haskins out there against NY to show everyone he wasn't ready to be a polished NFL starter.

He didn't prove anything except he was an ass. We knew that.

The next week Gruden wanted to show us how things would have gone if he had his disciple McCoy on the field earlier in the season.

We knew what we would see there too.

A backup qb with a limited arm that sailed anything over 15 years so receivers were left to stand there with their hands on their hips.

Seems at the end of this tragi-comedy the only ones surprised were Gruden and his former buddy Bruce Allen.

Maybe Jay and Colt can find work with brother Jon.

There is always the crony machine to fall back on.

No one knows that better than Bruce.

Our next coach will likely be his former roommate at prep school.

95% of that is fine but has nothing to do with Haskins being drafted or how he's being handled.

I am not as convinced that he put Haskins out there to humiliate him. Keenum was imploding and McCoy wasn't available as a sub. I think it's possible he simply hoped Haskins could give them a spark.

Regardless, don't see how any of that relates to whether they should have drafted or how they've managed him in general. If anything, they haven't done what most critics said they would do, which was force Gruden to start him out of the gate. Nor does it appear Gruden was fired for not starting him, since Callahan has already stated he doesn't plan on starting him immediately either.

Well - I think that falls into the general category of (if they even do have a coherent solid plan) failing to communicate what they are doing to this fan base.

I have no doubt that there's little chance we won't screw it all up with Haskins. Why should anything be different this time around?

No worries my brother. I know you're just busting my balls.

But, I did not say whiny fans were THE problem. But there's no denying that they can be a problem, at times.

So, again, trying to communicate their plan to the fans, at this time, is fruitless. Why?

Because right now, the common theme is that the majority of the fans are super pissed. Agree?
Sure you do. It's just a fact.

But once you get beyond that, the cure has far less, like mindedness. Agree?
Sure you do. It too, is just a fact.

So, remove any that would agree with what the team's professed plan is. As they would quiet down quite a bit. Agree?
Sure you do.

But for all those who don't like the plan, their pissin' and moanin' would only continue to intensify. Because they know it won't work. Agree?
Well, of course you do. It's just the way things are. Social media lives off of disagreement. It's their life's blood.

Alrighty then. I'll say it again. The best way for the current regime to move forward, is exactly how their doing it. It will either succeed, or fail spectacularly.
It's gonna take more than what's happened to date to force a change.

For all we know, Gruden was removed from the equation, so Bruce could get his last shot, doing it his way. There could be an understanding that if things don't show marked improvement by the end of the season, Bruce's resignation is already in place. And that's why we haven't seen or heard from Snyder. Maybe Dan told him, you're on your own until January. Swim or die.

And before you fall over laughing, there's a better chance of that happening, than some online petition forcing Snyder to commit a murder suicide pact with Allen.

Haskins will be inactive for the first time this week. My guess.

I don't care if we win a game this year. Would be better for the team if we don't.

It sounds crazy. But I sort of hope the crazy rumor of a possible mid-season trade for Tomlin happens so we can get on with whatever's coming. I don't want to give up draft picks to make it happen, but I'd throw Norman, Trent, and/or Kerrigan at them to make it happen.

My fantasy is that Allen gets quietly moved out of the GM role by seasons end and we hire someone competent to pair with Tomlin.

Instead, we'll probably get Rex Ryan and a Bruce extension

Callahan had officials at the practice looking at alignments and hand placement at the LOS.

Boy, Callahan can actually speak in complete sentences and be understandable. He spoke intelligently about reducing penalties,working harder together, etc.

He also said he focused on developing a core set of plays that would help the team develop an identity on both sides of the ball.

Gruden on the other hand spoke like a Truck Stop 76 attendant and never seemed to address the execution errors and penalties except to say ‘we need to get better'.

But he never made any changes to ensure that review and correction took place.

As a fan, I see my options as...…..quit...…….or hope.
