I just saw they put the exclusive tag on him. Apparently there is no desire to work out a trade.

Edit: Although apparently they could still work out a trade, Kirk just can't negotiate himself. Whatever works, I guess? I just hope some deal gets done or we get compensation, cause if he's still on the tag in June, we aren't getting anything for him next year.

Doc Walker was just on NFL Radio a little while ago.

The ONLY thing he speculated on was: "Two people gave Kirk a thumbs up. Somebody gave a thumbs down. If I had any interest in betting,which I don't, I'd say Bruce gave the thumbs down."

A very adversarial interview to say the least.
 
I kind of like that there are no real leaks from Redskins' Park, but am pretty disappointed that we are here again even though it felt inevitable.
 
Thanks. I ought to spend more time around these parts. I tend not to post too much about football during the off season and focus on alt subjects. Most recently, I've been having fun trying to pimp my books. Newest one is being released on April's Fools Day.
 
On topic, I don't seem think I like what I infer to be both McCartney and the Redskins' strategy which seems to have been. We know the tag is inevitable so it's not even really worth talking until that gets done. After that, we're happy to talk because we've established our "floor/baseline" whatever.

It just feels like they haven't been really working at coming together, developing a deal, seeking compromise. Both parties were content to let yesterday happen and content to not really negotiate in earnest until yesterday happened.

Well, if you insist. I've got two fantasy novels: The first is A Halo of Mushrooms. It's about a year old and still 4.4/5 stars on Goodreads and 4.8 on Amazon. It's about a healer who steals one of the last mushrooms from the first faerie ring in order to find an environment to transplant it in order to restore lost wonder. He's pursued by those who would consume it, hoard it, or obliterate it (in the hopes that something might evolve to replace it). It's also possibly the only fantasy story ever written in which the resolution relies partly on dessert.

The newest one is on pre-sale. It's a fractured fairy tale in which John is forced to sell the company business (The Corporation of Ordinary Wares... or COW) and is tricked into exchanging it for three thousand shares of a stock about to IPO. The stock grows like crazy and by the end of the book, John is battling corporate giants, dragons, and must learn how to stuff a cow through a rainbow. (Warning: this is a great, funny book... but if wordplay upsets you keep away.)

In complete shamelessness, this is the one I'm working hard right now because it releases on April 1st and all the books sold until then count when the book launches. That means, I have a chance of becoming a best seller (I figure I'm about ten sales away from a category best seller already)

If your point in repeating that mantra over and over and over is that stats don't always tell the whole story, I think it's safe to say that has been accepted as an axiom by approximately 99.483% of all NFL fans for a very long time. Thing is, some of us still like to look at, analyze and ultimately incorporate them into our thinking on a given subject, in context, from time to time. There is value there.

Silly as that may seem.

Coulda swore I've seen, for weeks and months, a number of people continuously citing #8's record breaking stats as the no brainer proof that he's worth a gazillion dollars, and a bag of chips.

For my part, I am not using stats to prove that he's worth a gazillion dollars. But strength of schedule is important when someone suggests that Cousins only plays well against crap teams and wilts against better opponents. When one looks at that graphic, it appears he's about even money against better opponents. Give a defense and a running game to a QB that is able to produce at that rate against quality competition and you might actually win more than nine games. That's all I'm saying.
 
Numbers ... in context ... as part of assessing the whole.

It's a beautiful thing.
