Random Commanders Thoughts

We can only hope and pray for common sense to be applied, but odds are against us. When has the media, politicians, and PC police ever used common sense?

As mentioned in another thread...when and will this ever end? Force us to change our name and then Indians, Blackhawks, Chiefs, Saints, and etc. will all be fair game.

I've been a Redskins fan for many, many years. The PC police can't take that or my right to wear the Redskins merchandise that I own. I too may leave the game if forced to change. To me it is a matter of principal. What about my rights to have support a team called "Redskins"?

The whole effort is pointless, even beyond redefining the name's meaning as an epithet. Fans will continue to call the team the Redskins - in fact, they'll turn it from a name into a religion.

Exactly.

Another thing....what's the PC Police going to do when 80,000 + still sing "Hail to the Redskins" after every score? Plus the fact that the majority of folks will still wear their Redskins apparel anyways?

Redskins: "If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine."

They wouldn't be able to do anything. There just wouldn't be any music accompanying the song.

Hey tr1 - that went right over my head... Can you explain what you mean to the slow among us??

I suppose it just depends on the context.

behind, among other things, two healthy guys who have never taken a snap in the NFL, and haven't had two torn ACLS, a few concussions and a dislocated ankle.

If that is the criteria, then I could see him anywhere from 31 to 56. A lot of teams wouldn't even consider drafting such a person if the draft happened today.

Just. Stop.

Just. Stop.

You wouldn't think of drafting a QB tomorrow with his past injury history.

That immediately puts him at 33 or lower.

Add in his lack of experience in reading defenses, etc.....I'd say he's 50.

Now if the question is "what will QBs do this coming season," then that would be different.

Well. Given that Gruden FINALLY decided to hire a QB Coach, perhaps we can all agree better days are ahead?

Not if the repeated reports that came out of this year's min-camps are true, that it's the same mistakes, the same misreads, the same poorly thrown passes, the same poor footwork.

I understand the slant many in the media may have, I understand the agendas of some, however, there have been numerous different reports saying the same thing...his footwork is off, he's still having trouble following progressions (with no real defense in his face), he continues to rush his throws, he continues to make the same mistakes we've seen for the past 2 seasons.

Those of you "hoping" or having a "clean slate" mentality for this kid are just fooling themselves. He is going to disappoint you all, unless we revert back to the read-option and he can stay healthy all year...even then, I doubt it!

:deadhorse:

But hey...at least Gruden is softer...gentler with him. That should help his delicate ego.

The reports of doom and gloom you site don't really jibe with the reports we've been seeing and tracking, El. Yes, there have been a few mentions of rushed throws here and there, and occasional reversions after a run of good plays, but the majority of reports have been positive. Any fair reading of the tea leaves through OTA's and minicamp on Robert's state of development points toward improvement.

That should help. But the QB coach can't repair injuries.

It's possible/probable that the even bigger problem is trying to teach a guy how to be one of the best 32 QBs on earth at his age.

Take an athlete, and try to teach him to be one of the 32 best pocket passers on earth. That isn't easy. Most of the other QBs have been studying that for an additional 4-7 years at his age.

He's way behind the curve.

Yup...plenty of value in that post.

Well damn. Now I feel like a jerk. Thanks for the reality check.

Dude, someone JUST posted over the weekend that Gruden was saying VERY positive things about Griffin. Gruden. The guy who evidently would have rather been waterboarded than say anything positive last year. I took that as encouraging. Evidently, I'm not alone.

Yeah, you're right. It's too bad he has never shown any flash of ability at all.

I swear. Did 2012 not happen. Did I imagine it? Did I fabricate those incredible reads and throws he made under pressure? I'm not saying he can return to that form, but to ignore that history and say that you would rather take 50 QBs over him is beyond insulting. It's just stupid.
