PFT: Washington may be in the Mariota business

So here's a thought ... imagine what this place might be like if we DO draft Mariota?

We're going to need a bigger boat.

why? there are many analysts who believe...again with time to learn pocket style habits....Mariota can be a great QB.

I don't disagree that Shanahan's decision to leave Robert on the field against Seattle was almost criminal neglect. That injury and the recovery time required certainly did nothing to make Robert's preparation for 2013, and learning the basics of an NFL passing offense, any easier.

What has transpired since then ... meaning Robert's alleged (for you, Henry :) ) continued lack of progress learning the basics of an NFL passing offense, I blame more on the player than the new coach who inherited this mess.

As to whether Kelly would do anything different ... or more effective ... who knows, maybe we'll find out in a year if 2015 goes poorly.

Fan, was Gibbs 2 a poor coach because Jason Campbell never became more than average?

Did Shanahan hold John Beck back from the hall of fame?

Did Beck fail because he was never Shanahan's guy, or because Shanahan didn't call the right plays for him?

And no, the same result didn't transpire with the other QBs. Nothing remotely close to some of the comments you see above in my previous post.

Did Jason Campbell or John Beck ever have a 2012 season?

You guys seriously need to stop pretending it never happened. While it may (will) never happen again, it is important context here.

1) Gibbs 2 had an unassailable track record as Gibbs 1.

2) Beck is not Griffin in any way, shape of form...the analogy doesn't work.

From Heath Schuler forward...the argument is not that these QBs failed due to their own limitations...the argument I set forth is that a contributing factor has been the routinely poor offensive lines that resulted in these guys being creamed on a regular basis. what many are trying to paint is a picture where....gee....we have this great coach...the utter crap we had to endure last season across the board had nothing to do with coaching...it was all about one QB 2 years removed from rookie of the year who is just the utter dregs and tubed the whole team.

I'm also concerned that gruden has come in and tried to change Griffin all at once instead of introducing new plays while still catering to his strengths.

The kid has an accurate cannon for an arm yet we rarely saw them go deep while he was in.

He was great rolling out yet it rarely happened.

Gruden chose some of the worst run plays over and over. To the point where we used to laugh about it in chat.

His lack of scheming around his studs is as much to blame as griffins lack of learning a new system.

Why? Because our little slice of cyberweb will need to go on steroids to handle the latest twist in the Great Redskins QB Drama.

Honestly, my hope at this point is that we as a franchise can quickly move past both Griffin and Gruden and give Scot the input he needs to provide us with successful stability at both positions.

I don't disagree that Shanahan's decision to leave Robert on the field against Seattle was almost criminal neglect.

This has always puzzled me. Personally, I view this as not only the stupidest coaching decision in team history, but also the worst coaching decision in the NFL over the last 40 years.

I can't think of a single worse instance than trading away so much for one player, playing him on an obviously bad wheel, and absolutely crushing him in his very first season.

It amazes me that the contempt for Shanahan isn't equal to that for Vinny within our fan base. Maybe it will just take more time.

Why do you think it isn't?

My only guess is that people were so thankful for one playoff appearance that they didn't process what had really just happened. Just denial.

I would have fired Shanahan the very next day.

Nope, they blamed a 22 year old kid for trying to play thru his pain and go back in.

In regards to none of the other QBs having any better luck than Robert - I think that's false. McCoy looked like an All Pro by comparison and if it weren't for the injury might still be our presumed starter. Cousins, while clearly fragile in terms of confidence, still looked far superior to Griffin despite throwing picks at will. Both McCoy and Cousins looked capable of running the offense as designed. Robert did not in my opinion.

but why did McCoy get injured? by getting an average of 6 sacks per game while he was in there. the very next game (that he shouldn't have been in) he was sacked on the very first drive and put on IR immediately. McCoy's claim to fame last year was beating Dallass in Dallass on national television.

McCoy delivered the ball on time when he was supposed to. I think we all saw the glaring difference in decisiveness when he went in.

OK, I hear that. But Griffin has been getting beaten down for 2 years behind this line while McCoy is eager to try and show he CAN be a starter after failing so many times in Cleveland.

Who is going to be more afraid of getting hit and making worse decisions?

The guy who has been beaten up or the guy trying to impress everyone?

I'm not blaming Griffin entirely for his play, but it was shocking to see how effective a supposedly 'inferior' QB like McCoy was by comparison.

I'll make a prediction that we'll see RG3 sue the Redskins within the next 5 years for destroying him physically.

Both sides will fight back and forth, and after about a year the team will cut him a check to make it go away.

5 games
1097 yards
4 TDs
3 INTs
4 fumbles
71.1% COMP

I would say he was decent but not shockingly effective. 5 games and 1100 yards is about 220 yards per game. That is not to excuse Griffin's poor performance but Colt didn't look good compared to anyone else in the NFL as a starter.

McD, you have no proof he is even that type of guy or that he is the kind of person that would have this style of thinking. Nor do you even know if it's legal to sue over an injury that has had precautions taken to keep from happening. this is just a slander attack.
