Wow..what we've been yelling about gruden all along. It's personal and not professional in the least bit.
 
In all seriousness, I shared an experience I had with a former front office personnel for the Redskins and the reaction I get is Vinny is the devil and anything he says is moot. I have been accused of a lack of objectivity before, but my gawd! His statement supports what many truly believe and you guys want to act like it doesn't matter, because it's Vinny.

His statement supports reoprts that came out when Allen was hired, great P.R. guy, not the greatest talent evaluator. His statement supports what many on this site have said. His statement supports what seems to be playing out before our very eyes. But it's Vinny so it doesn't matter?

I cannot believe I find myself supporting that douche bag, bu the reaction I see from many as a result of sharing my experience is rather juvenile, at best.

Vinny is a douche, but Bruce Allen has not been decidedly better. Why no animus for him? Does his name give him a pass?

I had a manager like that a few years ago. He rode one particular coworker of mine so hard verbally and in email, but treated no one else anywhere near the same. Nevermind that she was a black female whose husband was a partner in a law firm that practiced business law... exactly the last person you'd want to bully professionally. Anyone who stood up for her got the same treatment and it got ugly.

Some people just have a hard-on for others. Companies always make the mistake of supplanting the person being bullied and assume "Well, this person is just lazy/stupid/doesn't get it" or whatever (even when having an exemplary history) when it's typically just that the boss is a prick.

This organization has changed people over but not attitudes.

A few years ago it was swinging for the fences with $40M for Haynesworth. Then it was trading a generation of picks for the ability to take Griffin.

Snyder and whatever coaches he hires always seem to get caught up with the idea of the 'one move' that will change fortunes. One roll of the dice to turn around a losing hand.

You might be able to wish your way into that position in the NBA because one player can make that kind of difference.

But not when you have 22 starters instead of 5.

In the NFL it is better to have a solid core of performers rather than 1 or 2 stars with a weak supporting cast.

After 16 years of struggling the folks over at the Park still don't realize that teams like the Packers, Steelers and Patriots continue to rebuild and win on the fly because they keep their draft picks, do their research and stay away from signing free agents that want long-term mega bucks contracts.

Green Bay let Greg Jennings go. The Patriots let Aqib Talib walk. Pittsburgh said its goodbyes to Mike Wallace.

They moved on rather than overpay.


Meanwhile the Redskins franchised Orakpo at $12M and then didn't have the cap room to get a RT or a safety.

Is Orakpo a top 5 OLB? Not even close.

If anything he was more impactful his first couple of seasons and has since tailed off.

Bellichick is paying a guy near $12M on a one year deal too, but it is Darrele Revis a consistent top flight corner.

As usual the Redskins are getting nowhere near their money's worth on a player's contract.
 
I think you're missing what's being said Brian - Vinnie is a buffoon AND Bruce Allen is an empty suit without much football expertise.
 
Snyder's a fraud. He made his money with smoke, mirrors, slamming, a few key acquisitions and doing his IPO at a time when the market was full of froth. He clearly knows nothing about the day-to-day managing of anything, people especially. One can get away with being a putz in the larger business world because there's always another deal around the corner. However the NFL is a pretty small universe and eventually being a putz will make you the employer of last resort.

As for the Vinny comments, I think we can all agree that he certainly sucked. As a result, he's more than qualified to make this judgement under the "it takes one to know one" rule. Given Allen's track record with us so far and in Tampa, I think it's probably safe to agree with Vinny on this. As the old saying goes, even a stopped clock....
 
The trouble with Snyder is his only job is walking around Redskins Park being the owner.

Cooke used to own newspapers, office buildings, horse farms, etc.

He left the offseason football ops to Beathard and Gibbs and came back to DC during training camp.

Snyder needs to hire the right GM and go on a 3 month vacation.

And an actual, real, live NHL team. Snyder had never so much as run a team out of the Annandale Boys Club.

You would almost believe Ed has been in charge of the war room for us the last 10 years.
