Random Commanders Thoughts

I'm sure I'm not alone in this, but as I've gotten older, I've come to actually enjoy the offseason a little bit. I get so emotionally invested in this team during the year that it's nice to take a step back.

Fortunately when those Skins cravings start in earnest, it's only about a month-and-a-half wait until the first preseason game.

Darrell Green's son Jared has signed with....THE COWBOYS. Man, I hate this - I have to root against Darrell's son, because seeing Darrell in a Cowboys jersey, even his son's, would be very, very hard to see. :(

I don't think he'll make the final roster, I think Jerrah signed him as a troll move to Redskins fans. Unfortunately Jared wasn't very good in college.
 
Anyone else wanna throw Mara into a tank of rabid narwhals or is it just me?
 
That really sucks Lanky. It's time for someone to step up. And we probably need to address this in the draft next year.
 
Hopefully Jenkins is back to his pre-injury form. He started showing signs last season.
 
Jenkins just has to get stronger. You can see the kid is raw, but he did not get much push on the interior of that line last year. Let's hope 2 year removed from the injury puts him back at 100%.

Everyone is clamoring for Rak to get back to it, but we need the interior of the line to step up big. Bowen and Cofield are solid, but they need help. Oh it would be so nice to have a real NT on the team so Cofield could switch over to DE where he would probably be much better suited in the 3-4. Carriker out another season is going to hurt. Maybe Nield will come back and shine like he did as a rookie...nothing spectacular, just good, solid play to spell Cofield at NT.

Agreed, although I'm not sure its a strength issue, but a confidence on the knee issue. He seemed to get better as the season progressed. Hopefully he'll be back to 100%.

Also, I agree that they need a true NT - its annoying that they haven't done so yet, and continue to rely on Cofield. Cofield is good, but we're basically taking away his talent by putting him out of position. He's much better suited to the DE spot as you suggest, and I think would be dominate there, which would also help out Jenkins.

The push in the 3-4 is supposed to come from the linebackers. It was nice to see Carriker and Bowen with 6 plus sacks in 2011, but it is vital to get Orakpo and Kerrigan going and in that 10-15 range.

Agreed there is little DE depth with Worthington now out for the year.

When Tandler's mentioned Baker on the outside I had to laugh as he looks like he is carrying an anchor on his back playing inside.
 
Seymour? Yeah, at 35 he still wants $8-9M to play ball. He needs a reality check.
 
Pending how this season plays out coach may just have to break down and draft the best NT in the 2nd next yr. Need to get that spot situated for the future.

Then again, where the hell is Neild?
 
Don't forget the cap penalty goes away next January, so the Skins could try and add someone in free agency on the DL.

RT is another spot I see manned by another starter in 2014.

Polumbus, Trueblood and Pashos together don't add up to one solid two-way tackle.
 
I know right, my kingdom for a RT. Hell maybe even a G too if Lerib doesn't work out.

Are the legends true that when the penalties are over we'll be like $30m under the cap? There were articles a while back about it.

If BB can give us a fifth for old goo butt, then he can give us a third for Sleepy Davis or possibly a second.

Paulsen is a workhorse and he would be missed. Need to keep him.
