Random Commanders Thoughts

Haha, I cracked up at the dude attacking his Christmas tree.

He IS "elite"....at least according to THIS drunk.

All draft picks are signed. And it is May. Unreal. Love it. Bring on the new season!

Was wondering when Garcon's toe acts up again, who's gonna be the go-to for Griff. I mean is this FINALLY Hank's year to blow up and establish?

I'm kinda done with expectations from this kid... yeah third year...blah blah blah.... He's the ****ing Taylor Jacobs of the Shanahan era. :furious2:

Whoah whoah whoah...I understand the frustration, but let's not get carried away. Hank had 38 receptions last year for 543 yards & 3TDs. Taylor Jacobs' CAREER numbers over 6 seasons: 37 receptions, 384 yards & 2TDs. There is NO comparison between the two.

EDIT: what I'm trying to say is, Hank actually has a CHANCE at breaking out.

You wanna hang your hat on this kid go right ahead... I won't.

Hank's stats reflect the time he got while Garcon was out (over two months if I recall). He won't push Morgan and can't do what Moss does. Again my opinion... he's slow, and soft. I have no more rah rah left for him.

If he elevates his game then God bless him but all this...
"But if.... Hank does this" and "But if Hank does that" - talk is reminiscent of the Taylor Jacobs era, stats or no stats. And that right there is the comparison. Take your baseball stat mentality and well you know what to do with it... ;P

... what?

Hankerson played about how you'd expect a third round pick to play during his first full season. Why does everyone think its Victor Cruz or bust? Some WRs ... like 90 percent of them ... don't break out as a bonafide starter right away.

Hank may pan out or not. But comparing him to an absolute bust like Jacobs is a bit of an overreaction.

Comparing everyone's EXPECTATIONS to those of Taylor Jacobs is right on target though. Everybody (besides you) seems to expect him to turn into a #1 or #2 WR last season this season or ASAP. Its JUST like the Taylor Jacobs fiasco where tons of people were like "just give him one more year blah blah blah. "Hank's gonna be a beast!" Um no he's not.

"Yeah but he's a third rounder with first round talent!" Um no... he's not.

I'll give him this year before writing him off, but this is it imho.

I always wondered if our lack of drafted wr production has been the players actually being busts or that our position coach there has always sucked? I mean it's difficult to pick our last wr that was drafted by the team AND had a exceptional career with us.

Taylor Jacobs was a bust?

Hank was drafted in the third round. His numbers last year were very solid for a third rounder, solid NFL numbers. Redskins fans are ridiculous...if he's not putting up Andre Johnson numbers immediately, he must be Taylor Jacobs! Come on! 40 receptions and 550 yards is solid 3rd WR numbers.

Please tell me one person who doesn't think Garcon will be our #1 WR this season.

Taylor Jacobs was a fiasco because he was a second rounder who never caught more than 11 passes in a single season. If you want to compare someone to Jacobs, Thompson or Kelley would be more accurate (though even they were each more productive than Jacobs).

Hankersen had over 500 receiving yards last year, something Jacobs never came close to in his career, ever. Expecting 700 or so this year from Hank, which would make him a solid #2, is not a crazy pipe-dream.

Yes, expecting 1500 yards and 12 TDs probably is, but that doesn't make him Taylor Jacobs.

Breaking a hip is a pretty huge deal. He lost an entire year to it and I can imagine that his "softness" partly was derrived from that. So, you had basically a rookie reciever last year coming off a huge injury. With that in mind, the guy showed flashes that he can be a contributor.

I don't think it's unrealistic to expect him to make another jump both due to experience and more importantly being two years off that injury. I don't think he'll ever be one of the top three receivers in the league, but he looks like he can be a player.

He's probably the fourth guy right now after Garcon, Morgan, and Moss, but he has a chance to climb. Even better, with talent in front of him he has time to be groomed and if he needs a bit more seasoning it's a luxury we can afford.

His 6-year CAREER totals never came close. Comparing Hankerson to Jacobs is ridiculous, whether you're talking about talent, expectations, or favorite color. There is NO comparison.

Expecting anything above mediocre from this kid is a mistake Imo. Comparing the fan boy love of him and growing expectations of him to someone else who also had great expectations from the majority of a fan base is ridiculous. I'm ridiculous and I don't see life through stats . com

Mediocre play would not make Hankerson the next Taylor Jacobs.

More like pointless. Fanboy love is over-inflated for every single player on the roster. There's a draft pick on the team that everyone expects to be the next Ken Houston simply because his last name is Rambo. Based on this I should call him the next Rashad Bauman?

Well, it's ridiculous to ignore stats completely, which is what you have to do to compare Hankerson to a guy who was so bad he hardly even took the field.

Keep going... Next year when he is gone, I'll look back and smile at these posts. He shies away from contact because he was hurt in 2010 (and I guess his drops were due to that injury too), his 2012 stats weren't due to Garcon being out for over 2 months and his stats alone make my opinion of him invalid. His lack of fight for the ball is my imagination and you guys are right... We'll eventually look back at Hankerson as a player who mattered.

The Rambo point is pretty spot on though.
