So, this is what our defense is going to look like this season:
CB: Josh Wilson, draft pick, Crawford, FA (Winfield?), Minnifield*
S: Doughty, Gomes, FA (Barber?), draft pick, Bernstein*, Merriweather*
OLB: Orakpo, Kerrigan, Jackson, draft pick
ILB: Fletcher, Riley, Robinson, Muckelroy
DL: Carriker, Jenkins, Cofield, Bowen, Golston, Merling, Worthington
ILB is a weak spot right now...Fletcher got off to a slow start last year (but finished very strong), but its obvious he's 37. Riley & Robinson need to step up in that department big time. Maybe they need to acquire another veteran MLB, perhaps Harrison? I know he's more of a rush/OLB, but he's got the size to play inside (and versatility would be nice, as who knows how long Rak will last this season). Apparently he's getting zero interest, so there's a chance he'll come very cheap. He understands the Steeler 3-4 very well, so wouldn't be an awful addition. Although he's got a bigger target on his back than ST ever did as far as big hits goes, so he's a suspension waiting to happen.
Karlos Dansby is out there as well...but I can't imagine he'd be that cheap. EJ Henderson is out there as well, but again, probably not going to come cheap.
At CB, some names to look out for are EJ Biggers (played in Tampa with Morris), Rashean Mathis (Skins showed interest previously, should be cheaper now), Ced Griffin (the devil you know...), and possibly Antoine Winfield.
S: Barber, Kerry Rhodes (would instantly upgrade the FS position, likely too expensive), Charles Woodson (cheap veteran).
We'll see what happens in the next few weeks, and what kind of bargain-basement FAs we get to fill the gaps.
