The NBA Season Is Saved

Kwame Brown gets $7M - and people wonder why the NBA is in dire financial straights.

Nene signs with Denver for 5 years. Not good news for Magic fans. Had he signed with New Jersey, they couldn't have afforded Dwight.

And the Chris Paul chase has begun again. The Lakers and Clippers continue to try to trade for him.

I thought the Clippers backed away after being told by the league they needed to include Gordon and Bledsoe? Has something changed?

Chris Paul to the Clippers. Wow. Chris Paul and Blake Griffin.

You couldn't have paid me to watch a Clippers game before this trade--literally.

Now? I'm going to have to tune in.

Big losers here? Magic and the Lakers.

Hey Otis. You suck!

"As awkward as it was, I must admit that the league ended up making smart move & getting better deal from LAC than it got from LAL for CP3"

EDIT: Average age of what the Lakers offered was 30, average age of what the Clippers offered was 24. Cheaper and more talent.

EDIT 2: I don't really follow the NBA, but from what I've read the Lakers would have dumped $20M+ in bad salaries in their deal. Clippers deal seems much more attractive - younger and cheaper. Especially for a team looking for a new owner.

younger on the clippers is probably not the best thing to look for. they have NO leader on that squad and that doesnt make sense to just keep bringing in kids without a proven vet.

the lakers were offering proven champs and guys who know how to play. Odom is not Kaman by any stretch of the means and Gasol is better than anyone (besides CP3) involved in that trade.

Not part of the trade, but what about Chauncey Billups for vet leadership? Everyone is saying the team is not likely playing for it all this year, but next year they could be.

I do like Chauncey a lot but he is on the older side and getting injured more and more. love his heart though. did you know he is cousins with lendale white?

I vaguely remember.

Good line here:

And best of all, Miami locked down Mario Chalmers for the measly price of $1.2 million over three years.

(Hold on … what?)

Sorry about that — Chalmers signed for $12 million over three years. I misread that. So if you're scoring at home, LeBron, Wade and Bosh took less money so Miami could spend $40.5 million over the next three years on Chalmers, Mike Miller and Joel Anthony. Witness!

Jeff Green of the Celtics out for the year.

http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/217623/Jeff_Green_Out_For_Season_Contract_Likely_To_Be_Voided

Jeff Green will miss the entire 2011-12 season after a heart ailment known as an aortic aneurysm was discovered on a routine physical.

The condition will require surgery but Celtics doctors say Green will be able to resume his career next season.

The surgical procedure will be performed on January 9.

ESPNBoston is reporting that Green's one-year, $9 million contract is expected to be voided as a result of this medical problem. Boston would retain his rights.

For the sake of Green and his family, glad they caught this early.

If it wasn't for bad luck, the Celtics would have no luck at all.

Lopez has a stress fracture in his foot. He is having surgery on Friday. So much for Dwight to New Jersey.

That pushes LA into the driver's seat.

Brandon Bass filled in nicely Diesel. It's good to know that someone else can score until PP makes it back.

Also, you just got a great one in MP. When healthy and engaged, he's an absolutely incredible player, and a blast to watch. Hopefully he can play Tuesday night.

And the Magic make me furious. Such poor coaching on the offensive end of the court. Anytime they take the ball to the rim they score. Anytime they stop at the 3 pt line and just pass the ball around, the offense dies. I hope reporters call out SVG on it over and over until he gets the message. But I'm not holding my breath--the BB reporters here are patsies, and know very little about basketball.

Nice headline in Orlando:

Dwight Howard has collected 48 rebounds in the last 24 hours.

Howard had 24 rebounds in Thursday night's game, and another 24 in Friday night's game. Not bad for a back-to-back.

McD5,

Tell Otis thank you for one Brandon Bass.

Guy had 15 pts/13 rbs in just 25 minutes off the bench.

Right now, seems like he doesn't miss from 15-17 feet.

MP should be available middle of next week, can't wait to see what he brings.
