If you haven't been paying attention lately, its the NHL Free Agency period. The Caps have been busy:

1) They re-signed Brooks Laich to a 6-year deal.

2) They traded Semyon Varlamov for a 1st and 2nd rounder to Colorado.

3) They signed F Joel Ward to a 3 year deal for $12M.

4) They signed D Roman Hamrlik to a 2 year (I think) deal.

5) They brought back C Jeff Halpern to a one-year contract. (Will he get the C from Ovie?).

Caps are once-again FA winners, however how long until they are considered the Redskins on ice? Offseason champs only goes so far...


Gone from the team:
Boyd Gordon, Matt Bradley, Jason Arnott (could still re-sign, but not likely), Andrew Gordon, Varlamov. Semin should be traded soon.

If someone takes Semin off our hands with his bloated contract I may do back flips, might break my ass but I'll do a back flip.

They have a long way to go before they are considered the redskins on ice. they would have to have the biggest payroll players only playing up to half their pay and going about 20 wins a season for 7 seasons
