Hope I am not stepping on serv's toes here as this is sort of Recon-ish but I was curious what Colts fans were saying this week after RGIII put up Herculean numbers while Luck looked like a rookie so I went and took a look at the Colts official fan forum.

I was mostly impressed. Most of the comparisons on there were to Manning's first game as a Colt and not to RGIII at all. Most Colts fans are taking the long view and fully recognize that Luck is working with a bad team.

Having said that, there were some interesting comments though. Some guys who are obviously suffering form a case of sour grapes, a few of the inevitable Vick comparisons and some guys who were just flat out impressed with our boy.

Here is what some Colts fans are saying today:

BTW, don't think RG3 had a great game. His O-line and RB's had a great day, but most of his attempts were 5 yd. dump offs and his receivers got huge yds. after the catch. The Saints defense is awful.
Mameluc said:
yea saints D looks awfull, much like the Giants did when spags started as their D coordinator untill they understood the gap controls of his D and what he wanted..then they went berserk

You should see the Colts/Bears comment section at BSPN... People already proclaiming RG3 as the next great QB and calling Luck a bust, after one freakin game! I seem to remember a short article in SI after Leaf won his first two games with SD and Manning was 0-2. They were questioning whether or not the Colts made the right pick. Well we all know the ending to that story. Not saying RG3 will be another Leaf, but calling either QB ANYTHING after one game is just dumb

who knows what might happen to me it just seems earily similar to what happends between manning and leaf. now its just luck and rg3. i think luck will in fact be a great qb. how great we will have to wait and find out. but i think rg3 is way too much like mike vick and anyone notice that vick lost today? and vick really isnt the superman type player they thought he was going to be so many years ago? yeah i said it.

I think he won't be anywhere near a RGIII just due to the fact that RGIII can run like the wind (43 yards yesterday), and RGIII can throw the ball so accuratley, like he was doing yesterday, hitting receivers on a dime, but Luck has lots of potential down the road a bit (couple years).

He was great and fun to watch.....

He wasnt playing the Bears 'D' but he was on the road against a top team.

His arm is overwhelming.....but he's going to get hurt runnng the ball.

Until then..justwatch the show.......it'll be prime time viewing

RG3 was a beast!!.. didn't surprise me one bit. He is what everybody thought he was..

Most of the work was done by recievers. He did NOT do better than Luck in my opinion. Griffin made more rookie mistakes than Luck, but has a team to bail him out. He is eventually going to get hurt, lose some/lots of his mobility, and he's just going to be the new Brett Favre- a pure gunslinger.

Most of the comments seemed reasonable except for a couple. This one threw me:

Griffin made more rookie mistakes than Luck
Um, what?

RGIII had more accuracy in his rookie game than Vick showed in his first half-dozen years in the leauge. Maybe more.

No problem, Neo, no "toes being stepped on" at all. :)

Interesting comments-although not all that surprising.

Homers will defend their own in spite of fact, evidence or otherwise.

This happens on every NFL fan forum.

This one included to be quite honest. :betterwink:

Maybe I've been watching the wrong games, but I have never really seen Griffin as a gunslinger in the mold of Brett Farve....

Easy throws, really ?

Far from all of them were easy.

Like the cross-field throw to Davis, was amazing beyond words.

It was Brett-Favre-like.....or better.

Certainly a far cry from rookie-like.

**** the sour **** Colts fans.

Of course they're gonna talk like that after getting their butts spanked.

If they won, the comments may have been a little more mild

EDIT - I just saw that they actually made comparisons to Favre, but in an INSULTING fashion...

Gunslinger ?!?!?!

Are you kidding me ?

First they say he's going to be a "run-first" QB like Vick.
And when he proves that wrong, they call him a gunslinger like Favre ?

HUHHH ?????

You can't have it both ways. Favre and Vick couldn't be more different.
How can you be called a "Favre-gunslinger" when he did not throw ONE DAMN interception, while the other "top tookie QB's" threw about TEN interceptions between them. He had no choice but to scramble and make wild throws, because of all the pressure he was under. Just the opposite - he should be praised for his composure and grace under pressure. Only an ignorant person would find fault in his performance

Um, what?
Come on man, you know as well as I do that throwing interceptions aren't mistakes... Just ask Rex.

Gotta love the inaccuracies like "Griffin made more rookie mistakes than Luck." Or "his (Griffin) team had to bail him out all game." Or "Vick lost today."

AM I crazy or were those the views of people who didn't watch a single game or report on anything they said?
