Will RG3 and the new look Washington Redskins prevail in their season opener? Or will it it be the Saints, with a lot of pent up anger at the events of the past 6 months, who take it out on the Redskins in New Orleans?

The first game of the season is a good chance for the Redskins to "steal" a win in New Orleans. With all the players that will be missing from the Saints roster, their D will not be able to keep up with our O, and the Redskins will win 37-34 on a last minute Cundiff field goal.

It just doesn't bode well to play a team with a chip on their shoulder who is only 2 years away from a Super Bowl victory.

New DC, players missing, interim head coach notwithstanding I don't see us winning this game.

Let me be wrong!

"All the players that will be missing from the Saints roster?" What "all" are you talking about? Vilma and Smith are the only Saints suspended that I know of. I guess you could count Hicks, now with the Bucs, as "missing" but they let him go which tells me they were ready to let him go.

I don't think this is as wounded a Saints team as we might have first expected and Bress can make any receiver look like an all pro as long as they isn't all thumbs. Their strength is throwing the ball and our weakness is the secondary.

We beat a far superior team in the opener last year (although at home) with Rex Grossman under center. Like I said elsewhere, we'll need to get hands on Brees early and often, but I think we have a chance to surprise the Saints and steal one.

I agree. The Saints are not missing many pieces. They're a very strong team. The Redskins defense appears to be be set up as a "get to the QB as quickly as possible because we know we can't cover well" defense. Mr. Brees will tear that apart all day long if that's all it is. I hope there's more to it. I just haven't seen it yet. Maybe if they do get to him early in the game and rock him a couple of times, but I'm not going to hold my breath on that.

I'm mainly looking for Mr. Griffin and the offense have some success. I don't expect them to match the Saints drive for drive, but do hope to see a few good scoring drives.

Smith is huge, as is Vilma. Fujita & Hargrove were also suspended, but aren't with the team anymore. That's 4 of the best players from a subpar unit gone. I worded it poorly, and meant to say coaches & players gone; I don't think we should underestimate the impact of Payton.

Oh for sure, they're going to score on us. A lot. I just think RG3, with little game-film on him yet, will be able to do the same against their D. Week one is typically where we see these types of upsets; a great example was the Cowboys losing to the Texans in their first-ever game. We shall see though.

The key is Brees. We have to be able to apply pressure, sack the hell out of him a few times and force him into making throws before he's ready to make them. If we do that we'll win. Not having Sean Peyton around to help run the offense is going to hurt more than most people think.

The Saints defense doesn't scare anyone and I think we'll be able to move the ball. We need to make good on our chances.

Prediction:
- Cundiff gets 4 FGs (might want to add him to your fantasy roster now folks).
- RGIII throws for one TD and our mystery starting RB gets one. I can't tell you who that's gonna be right now though, Shanny would kill me.

I beat them on Madden 13 by a score of 38-34, so that's how it's going down.

Are we doing the prognostication write ups this year?

I picked the saints to win by 7 or more.

This redskins team, and more importantly Griffin, has proven absolutely nothing to me in terms of how good or bad they will be this season. We have finished bottom of the division for the last few years. They are going on the road, rolling out an offense they've yet to actually run against another team, and playing a team that is incredibly talented and has had quite a bit of success in the last few years.

I wont be surprised if we blow them out. The saints may not be prepared for whatever offense we show on Sunday, and our defense may be much better than any of us thought they would be. But I cannot actually pick them to win, or even lose closely, in this game :(

My head says Saints. My heart says Redskins by less than 7. Hope my heart is right. I go into every game expecting a win.

In theory we should get killed, but weird stuff happens in week one. Saints by three or fewer.

What tshile said.

Weird things happen Week One, and that may work in our favor this week, but I can't predict a win.

I got nothing here. No clue. I think Griffin has looked good for the most part and I love the fact that he has finished the pre-season without an INT, however, I don't think we have seen any of the offense this team will run this season yet.

Sunday is going to be a surprise for everyone in that regard. I'm hoping for good things but you just never know until the exercise is "live fire".

I do like what I see out of the defense for the most part. I am concerned about FS and the second CB spot but I think we will get pressure all game long. I also think it is going to be tough to run on this defense, although that doesn't matter much when playing the Saints. Brees is the man and in the Superdome he is nearly unstoppable.

If Griffin can be just as unstoppable against a slightly undermanned Saints defense lead by new DC Steve Spagnolo, this could be a good game for the Skins. If Spags guessing right about what Kyle really wants to do with Griff, we could be in for a long afternoon.

the saints D is a year older and they havent done anything to upgrade it. their O is what we need to worry about and scoring ourselves often and we need to hold the ball as long as possible. a cold Brees is good for us.

Skins by 3 to 7 points.

and there is NO ****ing way I EVER pick the Skins to lose an opening game when NEITHER team has played a single down yet.
This...we seem to always play the Saints well, and why should this year be any different?
