The Los Angeles Rams have built a roster that nicely blends young talent and proven veterans. Matthew Stafford, Rob Havenstein, Tyler Higbee and Davante Adams are among the more experienced players leading the team, while a collection of players that includes Puka Nacua, Jared Verse, Kyren Williams and Steve Avila are all 25 or younger.

Over the last few years, the Rams have tactically targeted older rookies in the draft, bringing in experienced prospects who are often seniors or redshirt juniors. That naturally drives up the average age of their draft class, as well as the average age of the roster as a whole.

The Rams will need to trim their roster from 90 players to 53 later this summer, which will inevitably shift the average age of the team – likely to the older side, assuming many of the cuts will be undrafted rookies. As of now, the average age of the roster is 26.1 years.

According to Spotrac, that ranks as the 16th-youngest in football, putting the Rams right in the middle. The Packers remain the youngest team in the league with an average age of 25.3, while the Commanders are by far the oldest (27.7).

Sportscasting.com specifically looked at projected starting lineups using current depth charts to find out the average age of each team. The Rams are 15th in that department, with an average age of 25.55 in their starting lineup.

The offense is what’s driving up that number. According to Sportscasting, the Rams have the oldest roster in the NFL with an average age of 29.29. That’s largely due to four players: Stafford (37), Havenstein (33), Higbee (32) and Adams (32). No other projected starter on offense is older than 29.

The good news is the Rams also have young playmakers at tight end with Terrance Ferguson and wide receiver with Puka Nacua. The bad news is they don't have a clear successor at quarterback or right tackle. With Stafford and Havenstein likely retiring in the next few years, Los Angeles needs to start thinking about future replacements.

For now, the Rams' roster is a perfect mix of youth and experience.
