Yeah, it's easy to say 'look at the record'
But a few of us were trying to figure out the 'pre' signs of a Washington team that is improving and set to trendline up as say the Falcons have done the past 18 months, moving from merely hopeful to a confident team that is readying to contend for a block of seasons.
I am going to include the subtle signs and not merely the 'acquire Peyton Manning' type of obvious ad-hominems.
My list (obviously I am including 2011 and perhaps beyond):
1. When team speed is upgraded on both sides of the ball.
2. When Stephon Heyer is no longer the top reserve on the OL.
3. When the developmental quarterback (John Beck) is not 29 years old.
4. When the #3 corner is a legit candidate to take over a starting job down the road.
5. When another wider receiver is within 5-10 catches of Santana Moss for the team lead in receptions.
6. When the discussion about the starting quarterback is about how good he will be rather than how good he used to be.
7. When guys like Phillip Daniels (37) and Vonnie Holliday (34) are no longer capable of making the roster because the DL talent is just that good.
8. When Kareem Moore is not the only true free safety on the team.
9. When 3rd and 2 yards becomes a rushing down again.
10. When scoring 20-25 points in a game is a more than monthly occurrence.
