What Are YOU Looking For, Starting Tonight?

Everybody and their mother will be looking for Robert to flash a hint of what is yet to come. I'm no different. But, barring injury, Robert is not going to be a problem. He's gonna be a rookie. All year, starting tonight. I fully expect him to struggle mightily, at times. His teammates will do more to minimize his expected rookie shortcomings, than he will. So, I'm watching for flashes from the guys that will fill those shoes.

I'm not a'scaryed of our Oline. I'm actually optimistically curious. I'm glad we get to see Hurt start at left tackle. Better to find out sooner, rather than later, whether he's progressed from the end of last season. When he was showing signs that he could maybe do the job. Tyler, while not great, was clearly better than Ja'Ouch Brown has been, to date. Willie Smith any better? Let's see. Is "The Rib" gonna be our new center soon? I'm looking for Shanny's reputation for finding good Olinemen later in the draft to start rearing it's much hyped head.

RB's and WR's? I'm looking for Aldrick Robinson to show what everybody's talking about. I'm looking for him to make Brandon Banks expendable. And, I'm looking for Brandon to make a concrete case for why he isn't. The other WR's are of little concern to me. The top 4 are set in stone, barring injury. Only one spot left, for sure. Maybe two.

TE? I'm looking for Niles Paul to prove he can do the job. Cooley and Retardo(with clean urine) will be fine.

The defense, will be Robert's best friend. Either setting him up in favorable field position. Or, covering his ass when rookie-itus strikes.

I'm looking to see if Jarvis Jenkins will live up to the almost mythical hype he's received. If he does, we'll have a strong rotation of DE's. I'm looking for Baker, and Neild to make it impossible to cut either one.

At LB? I'm looking at Keenan Robinson, and Markus White. The rest are set.

I'm looking to see if the asshole safety we signed, Meriweather, has more brains on the field, than he does off.

And finally, I'm looking for Gano, to go. Unless Rackers just sucks eggs, Gano is out of here.

I reserve the right to revise and extend. ;)

I could see Jenkins working in at both positions but my guess is he's better suited to DE.

I want to see what you want to see as well but I'm most curious about our DBs and Safeties. I have growing confidence in our front seven and our depth there but the defensive backfield might be an issue. We'll see if Coach Morris can work some magic with that group.

The first pre-season game? I'm looking for everyone to walk off the field under his own power.

I asked this in another thread and did not get an answer - does Jenkins play rotate at both positions- NT and DE ? Because I thought I saw somewhere, his name mentioned at each position
Stephen Bowen and Adam Carriker return as starters at the right and left defensive end positions, respectively. But Jenkins will rotated in and out with each of them, and other times, he will spell nose tackle Barry Cofield in the nickel packages.

I want to see everyone healthy of course, first and foremost. Beyond that I haven't really even thought about it much. I'm just excited to see some Redskins football

Health certainly. Beyond that? I would like to see Rak show some small glimmer that he has more than one move. I'd like to see a confident Perry Riley directing the defense (assuming he plays more than London), and I'm fearful, but would like to see how our DBs play.

On offense, I want to see Robert direct the offense, and look like he knows what is going on. Confident.

jenkins, brown, whoever these new safeties are, gano, i'd like to see riley running around just to know he is where he left off, and i want to see these offensive linemen.

that'll be my theme throughout all 4 games. i'm not looking for much from the running backs, QB, WR's, or TE's. we're not going to see anything worth mentioning from those positions until regular season.

I guess I expect to see mostly what you do Squire, but I doubt Gano is gone. I hope we have a kicker who we actually developed into a perennial solid asset to this team. This is his chance to do it.

You said Hurt will be starting at LT...over TW? It will definitely be interesting to see him battle Mario Williams.

I expect more from our rookie QB. Not expecting him to go 10-10 for 200 yards with 2 RD's or anything, but I expect him to avoid getting sacked and go out and move the chains.

I also expect to see our 1st team run game get a little bit of momentum to give the play action a chance to work.

I expect our defense to crush their offense. I am expecting big things in year 3 of the 3-4 even though we have some new guys. I like what I saw and what I have been hearing from Madieau Williams performance in the secondary. Don't expect anything there, just interest to see how he plays.

All in all, the expectations are to see what is typical of pre-season...rust and nerves. Rust from the vets and some nerves from the younger players. However it would be nice to see some success from our 1st team O against their 1st team D.

Actually, I'd like to see what they do with Banks. I have this theory that they're trying to showcase him for a possible trade. I mean I don't think they get more than a 6th or 7th for him. But I feel like he (and/or maybe Robinson/Austin) could be moved by the end of the month.

Here's my thing about Banks. After last season ends, they tell him the only he'll make it is if he learns to play WR as well. But when you look at the roster breakdown, he's going to be no higher than the 5th WR at best. And that means, barring a flood of injuries at the position, he won't be playing WR. Just special teams

So, in my estimation, the only reason to tell him he has to learn to play WR is a) they plan to groom him to succeed someone at WR (the logical choice being Santana in the slot) or b) they want to show others he can play WR and up his trade value

Why would Trent Williams sit this one out? I haven't read that anywhere but this thread. What did I miss?

Edit: Ok, Hurt is at LG for Lichtensteiger, not at LT. Hankerson starting ahead of Moss.

I would side with BT's opinion on Banks - that his mere size alone, makes him too much of an injury liability at WR, therefore negating anything he offers at that position, and therefore negating any chance he makes the team.

Me, I'm looking for anything I can... mainly a site that streams games. The ones I've used for the past two years have been shut down....

As for the game, I'd like to see a bit of production out of the offense, with no sacks or turn overs. I'd like to see the D maul people.

Ugh, Trent injured. I hate preseason sometimes.

I read xrays were negative, but he was walking with a limp. No word if there's an MRI scheduled or not that I saw.

Some sort of leg injury? Don't know, I wasn't watching.

He said it happened when someone stepped on him during a play. He is expected at the next practice.

Sounds like Hurt was blocked into him on the TD. Glad to hear he's okay.

Looks like it is a little more tender than TW let on in his interview though, but nothing too serious at this point.

Also, Shanahan says it happened on the PAT:
‏@Rich_Campbell
Shanahan on Trent: X-rays on the top of Trent's foot were negative. He's sore. Hurt it on PAT.
