Cornerback Emmanuel Forbes is entering his first full offseason with the Los Angeles Rams after he joined the team midway through the 2024 season.
The Washington Commanders released Forbes less than two years after they took him No. 16 overall, a moment that he told Sports Illustrated was "rough." But when he came to L.A., Rams assistant coach Aubrey Pleasant wanted to let Forbes know that the young cornerback would have a clean slate with his new team.
Forbes, 24, only played in two regular-season games for the Rams in 2024, and only played defensive snaps in one (Week 18). He tallied four solo tackles, one assisted tackle and one defended pass in 52 snaps.
While that wasn't a lot of action, Forbes will get a better opportunity to make a name for himself in a cornerback room without a clear-cut starter. Head coach Sean McVay has already said he's "impressed" by Forbes, and the young cornerback could even get a shot at redemption against Philadelphia Eagles star wideout A.J. Brown in Week 3.
The sky is the limit for Forbes at the moment, even after he didn't excel in Washington. L.A., at least, wants to see what they have in the young cornerback regardless of his past.

"Coach AP told me, look me in my eyes, and as soon as I walked in the building, he said, 'I don't give a damn what the other team did to you, you got a fresh start here, and it's up to you to prove it,''" Forbes told SI. "So, yeah, it is a great feeling."
