Jeremy Reaves is staying in Washington, D.C.

The longtime special teams star for the Commanders, Reaves signed a contract extension with the team on June 12. The NFL Network and Ian Rapoport reported the extension.

Reaves, 28, signed a one-year extension with the Commanders, meaning he'll continue his journey with the same NFL team where he played his first professional game. The team hasn't announced the deal yet, so no details of the contract extension's terms were released.

Rapoport, in a social media post, also noted that Reaves is now one of the NFL's highest-paid players at his position. The contract extension will keep him with the Commanders through 2026.

"Grateful for the journey, the fans, this team and organization!" Reaves posted on X, formerly known as Twitter. "Much more in store!"

Reaves finished the 2024-25 NFL season with 20 tackles (9 solo, 11 assisted) and a forced fumble, along with a tackle in the postseason while the Commanders made a run to the NFC Championship with rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, before falling to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Reaves' initially signed a two-year contract extension back in March 2024 for $6 million. He's been with Washington since 2018. He started his career as an undrafted free agent with Philadelphia, before releasing him in September of that year. He was quickly picked up by the Commanders after that.

Reaves' career has been highlighted by his 2022 Pro Bowl selection, his first season making the 53-man roster out of training camp. Last year was Reaves' first time in free agency.

"There was interest from other teams, but at the end of the day, I was looking forward to getting this deal done with Washington the entire time," Reaves told the PNJ back in 2024. "I was excited about the opportunity to just go back and keep working at what I started there.”

Reaves suffered an ACJ injury in Week 5 of the 2023-24 season before making a comeback this past year. He also made headlines in the 2025 playoffs when he proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Mikaela Worley, from Milton, following Washington's overtime win against the Atlanta Falcons.

"Honestly, it makes me smile. This is a true Commander. One of our heavy-hitters. An absolute, all-around BMF," Washington head coach Dan Quinn told reporters about the contract extension. "It's no surprise he was named one of the captains in the postseason. ... We really value what he brings to us on and off the field."
