Von Miller's Contract Details Revealed In Commanders' 'Go-for-It' Signing originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Washington Commanders knew they needed help at edge rusher this offseason. The free agent departure of Dante Fowler Jr. — who left coach Dan Quinn's club to return to the Dallas Cowboys — left Washington's defensive end group a bit thin.
Von Miller may not be the same All-Pro he once was, but his arrival in Washington should quell any concerns about the team's front-seven going into an important 2025 campaign. Miller signed a one-year deal this week with the Commanders with the hopes of winning the third career Super Bowl title of his illustrious career.
Days after the official announcement, Miller's contract has now been revealed.
NFL Insider Ian Rapoport confirmed that Miller's one-year deal is worth $6.1 million with a chance for the whole deal to reach $10.5 million with incentives.
Miller's contract is a reminder of where the veteran now is in his career. The 36-year-old veteran is far removed from his days as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2011 Draft. The former Denver Bronco was Super Bowl 50 MVP, and won an additional championship with the Los Angeles Rams in 2021.
On a defense with quality veterans like linebacker Bobby Wagner and cornerback Marshon Lattimore, the Commanders have brought Miller in to be another experienced hand who the organization can rely on as a spot player... but it still qualifies as a "go for it'' move.
That has been the consistent theme of how Washington has wanted to build their roster in the Quinn era.
Miller's deal isn't a big blow against the cap, and he won't eat up a lot of snaps ... with the idea here being that adding to his 129.5 career sack total can be done in limited play time — but at critical moments.
Oh, and Miller getting the chance to compete for another Super Bowl is certainly the icing on the cake for him.
