Am I right in thinking these Legacy/SB jerseys don't say Redskins or Commanders? They are effectively just white jerseys? I really like them but it seems weird not having a team name on them.

They’re meant to be an olive branch to the fans who don’t like the name, and I think it’s a smart choice. The helmet has the W, when we’re at home there’s plenty of Commanders stuff all over. I think it’s walking the line about as well as you can in this instance. If they put “Commanders” on an 80’s type jersey meant to honor those SB teams and their style, you’d have a way bigger uproar, in the vein of Riggo saying he didn’t want his name on new Commanders jerseys.

After looking around a little bit, it looks like we didnt start putting the Redskins wordmark above the numbers on the jerseys until 2003. When we were winning Super Bowls, the wordmark wasnt there. The " new " throwbacks are essentially an exact replica of those " Super Bowl Era " uniforms, except for a couple technicalities. Those being the stripes are smaller and the numbers are sewn on as opposed to being screen-printed like they were in the '80's and '90's.
The team probably didn't feel comfortable putting either the Commanders or Redskins wordmark on them

And honestly, sewn on numbers are better.

Agreed. They are Redskins jerseys. No SBs were won with Redskins on the front and it was placed on there during the WOS era. Any true throwback of Monk, Riggins, etc. does not have Redskins on the front.

The team is threading the needle the best they can with "getting back to our brand." They are the first Commanders jersey I will personally own.

Was thinking today, as I was watching the game. We could go ahead and win the Super Bowl this year in those god-awful abominations that are the white jerseys and they would still make me retch.

They are objectively awful. If the Commanders were an expansion team and I had never heard of the Washington Redskins, I would still think those jerseys are putrid. They are truly that bad.

That does beg the question...

If we did get to the Superbowl this year are we obliged to wear our normal (awful) whites, or the normal burgundy?
Are there any rules against using a throwback uniform? i.e. the Superbowl era uniforms?

Sooner we make them our permanent look the better!

I just googled it. Answer is that throwback and alternates are indeed banned. It has to be the standard Home or Away jersey combination.

For the record, I would rather them be wearing the Alts if they make the Super Bowl…but they can wear pink leotards if they bring us another Lombardi. Even those white abominations are fine for a Lombardi.

If that’s the only caveat…I take it every day and twice on Sunday lol.

I would prefer anything but the white abominations. I would even take the black ones.

I agree, however that I would take a Lombardi in any uniform over no Lombardi. However, wearing the putrid whites would feel like one last knife by the WOS - i.e., winning a SB in jerseys designed by Mrs. WOS. Think of the iconic shots in our SB era uniforms from SBs past. Juxtapose that with a shot of JD5 throwing a SB TD wearing a jersey that looks like the illegitimate child of the recent Cardinals and Falcons circa 1988.

I really like the angled spear as well. All of your work is very good.

While I understand the laurels symbolism, might I suggest moving from them. All of the other symbols you use are more ah, representative of Commanders/warriors/gladiators/football players in combination with the angled spear

Not to discourage anyone - that’s what this thread is for. Just my personal preference - we’ve had enough change. Ride with what it is at this point and focus on football.
