The Washington Commanders brand. What you like, what you don’t like, and suggestions to improve what we have.

I'm sure they can come up with something DC related. Or maybe an old school cannon or something militaryish like that.

The more I think about it, the more I think they should lean into the military theme. Maybe a silhouette George Washington standing from the back? Or on a horse? Military commander type?

commander insinuates a person. So I think it has to be person theme.

I don't know about that one. It looks like a refrigerator sticker.
Yeah, I see what you mean, not to mention the similarity to the BWM emblem. But then again, so the Steelers crest also looks like a fridge magnet. We already copied their black unis, maybe keep that train rollin' :)

I think we have already discussed this to some extent, but the day after the win over the Lions was the single greatest day of merchandise sales in the history of the team before and after the rebrand.

With the draft quickly approaching, I wonder if the announced tweaks to the uniform will be revealed before next Thursday, or maybe we'll have to wait until Draft Night?

(I'm probably all excited over what will amount to a very small change, lol)

I think I'd announce it during a lull. So maybe a minicamp?

After all, there'll be plenty to talk about (or complain about) during and after the draft.

Haha, now you have me thinking of how small a change they can make to disappoint us. Like have a big announcement, curtain-rise kind of show, and then it's just a new patch on the chest, like 2 in. circle with a C inside for Commanders.

That would probably be one of the most disappointing things I could imagine that is small.

Big disappointment would be having some crazy (and bad) uniform colors added, or tweaks that are just hideous.

There was a uniform guy on Galdi’s podcast that said wholesale uniform changes were often announced before the draft so they could get pictures of new draft picks with new uniforms.

But small tweaks and alternates might be later.

After reading this entire thread, it seems that most of the differing views focus on logo and its appearance on the helmets. Personally, I think that could come later on, and that major changes to the current unis, especially the white and black, and addition of a gold facemask and helmet stripes would be a humongous win.

One random uni thought I've had is based on the old Pittsburgh Pirates uniforms of the late 1970s. Here's a good description of them:

The team enters their “Bumblebee” period where a dizzying array of jersey, pant, and cap styles allows for seven possible uniform combinations which the club varies on a nightly basis. The gold cap changes to yellow and a black one debuts. Any combination of gold, black, and striped white are used both home and on the road. With maybe one exception the cap never matched a black or gold jersey. Either color cap was worn with the white jersey or pants.

This kind of variety is fun for a lot of fans, and we have done it a little bit in the past (burgundy jerseys paired with gold, white, or burgundy; white jerseys paired with burgundy, gold, or white). So right now we have three jersey colors, four pants colors, and two helmet colors. If we added a gold jersey and a gold helmet, we've now got 4 of each, meaning 64 potential unique combinations. A lot of them would be hideous, so we could definitely pare them down to only those that look good. Even if we did that, we'd probably have enough to wear a different combination each game all the way to the Super Bowl. That might be fun.

I realize it's probably not feasible and might be too far overboard for some people, but it's kind of entertaining.

As for the logo and its application to the helmet, I'm in no rush right now. A change in the W would work (I liked the one based on the old Senators W), but I don't think the logo issue is nearly as pressing as incinerating every last white polka dot jersey and updating the black uniform so the Steelers can have their identity solely to themselves.

Just my 64 cents...

I'm fine with the Commanders brand at this point. I have (and it's been a few years now since this moment) accepted that the Redskins are gone.

The maroon jerseys are fine.

The helmet is okay - though I'd go to the old school stripes, yellow facemask (seems like they have). The logo is okay, but I'd outline it in white to make it pop a little more and look a touch more familiar.

The white jerseys are an abomination.

Major Tuddy is a major win, too. I used to want to blast him into orbit, but the pig has become a staple to the Commander Culture.

We have left the denial stage of the brand change and entered the acceptance stage.

Winning also helps to make everything more palatable.
